Nurse Practitioner Pat Tuohy-Jones
I have been a qualified RGN since September 2000. I gained my hospital experience working within Vascular Surgery and the Critical Care environment at Arrowe Park Hospital and since 2004 have worked within Walk-in-Centres in both Manchester and Liverpool. Before I joined the team at Great Sutton Medical Centre, in October last year, I worked for seven years both within the Walk-in-centre, Hospital@Home and for the medical team within the Ambulatory Care Unit all based at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
I have been a Nurse Practitioner since 2006 and an Advanced Nurse Practitioner since 2009 when I successfully completed my Nurse Prescribing course. I thoroughly enjoy the role as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and find my job both rewarding and challenging. So what is my role at Great Sutton and how do I fit into the team?
I am here to support the GP's and help to see patients across all three Great Sutton Practices. I have had the training and possess the skills to assess , diagnose and treat patients of all ages including babies and young children who attend with a range of acute, non-acute and chronic medical conditions and am able to prescribe medication for treatment of a wide range of illnesses and conditions. I can order x rays and scans, take blood, assess and treat wounds and minor injuries and refer patients into the hospital if necessary. On a Thursday morning I conduct the home visits for patients in their own homes, local nursing and residential care homes. I am also involved with the new E Consult pilot scheme.
I thoroughly enjoy working at Great Sutton and love the fact that I can see patients regularly and get to know them and their families.
