Meal Program Cross Connection Youth Center
Cross Connection’s Mission Statement:
We exist to offer help, hope and support in the name of Jesus Christ to youth and families in the ELANCO area, while providing a safe place for youth to connect with one another and caring adults.
Cross Connection Youth center is doing an outstanding job of meeting teens’ social and spiritual needs. By giving them a safe place to meet and connect with other youth. In order to fulfill our mission more completely, it has become a large part of the ministry to meet their physical needs as well, in the form of hot meals. Unfortunately, many do not receive even one hot meal in a day. We are hoping the area churches and organizations would be willing to partner with us in meeting these teens needs. Here is one way you could help:
Commit to one evening a month (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) to bring a hot meal to Cross Connection Youth Center for the students (about 30-35 students).
These are the churches who have already committed to this and the evenings they are providing a meal:
· Summit View BIC Families – second Wednesday of the month
· St Stephen’s UCC – fourth Wednesday of the month
· Christian Fellowship Church - once a month
· Evangelical UMC - second Thursday of the month
· First Baptist Church – first Thursday every other month
· Weaverland Mennonite Church – fourth Tuesday of every month
Here are some details for the evening:
· Meal to be served around 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday & Thursdays and at 7:00 pm on Wednesdays & Fridays.
· Provide for 30-35 teens
· Main Dish (in something to keep it warm - teens eat throughout the evening), Side Dish, Dessert (could be as simple as jello or fruit) and Drinks.
· Paper supplies (optional) - including plates, cups, plastic ware, napkins, (let us know if you would prefer CCM to provide paper supplies)
· Your group may stay and serve the meal or drop it off and the staff will serve it
· If you choose to stay & serve, we recommend you choose a Wednesday, Friday. These evenings are more structured and will have more opportunity to interact with the teens.
· If you choose to simply drop it off, please mark your dishes & we set them aside for later pick-up
· Any leftover food will be given to a needy family or used the next evening if possible.
