SANTA'S WORKSHOP PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Santa's Workshop is an event to benefit local children (ages 3 - 5) from Waco and the surrounding area. The
program collects donated toys and gifts for distribution at the Santa's Workshop event held this year on December 5th, 2014. The event brings children to campus, where they have the opportunity to interact with the Baylor
community, students and volunteers; have a meal; meet Santa and Mrs. Claus; and most importantly, receive a gift. This is a collaborative event which brings together various student groups, departments, and the larger campus community.
MISSION
Santa's Workshop seeks bridge the gap between the Baylor and Waco communities. We partner with Head Start Centersand daycares from all around Waco and the surrounding areas to provide children with an incredibleChristmas experience!The Leadership Committee promotes awareness of the Santa's Workshop program, increasing involvement of Baylor students, staff, faculty, and Waco schools, and makes the event fun for everybody!
EXPECTATIONS
- Committee members need a passion for service and Christmas!
- They also need to attend all weekly meetings (these begin mid-October) as well as the Wrapping Party on December 3rd, at least part of setup the night of December 4th, and the Event on December 5th
- Able to commit about 3 hours a week (and much more than that in the weeks before the event)
- And able to attend a 2-hour course on working with children in late October
SUB-COMMITTEES
Community Outreach:
Sending and verifying invites to schools, daycares, and Head Start centers for the event as well as well as finding new ones
Fundraising & Donations:
Finding donors for the event; may include sending letters to faculty or calling local businesses
Logistics & Liaison:
Assure that equipment, food, and supplies are presentat events
Reserving venues
Volunteer & Marketing:
Advertising for events and the donation drive (such as creating posters and signs)
Gather volunteers from school departments, student organizations, and the Baylor campus in general for the Santa’s Workshop event and any other related events
