APPLICATION PROCESS FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT

  • Complete this application form and submit it electronically to Mrs Elsa van Tonder before 28 February of the relevant year.
  • The application will be considered by the executive committee of the Research Unit (RU) and feedback will be given to the applicant as soon as is practically possible.
  • The maximum amounts that can be approved, are as follows:

MA : R1000,00 per year for the first 2 years

PhD: R1000,00 per year for the first 3 years

  • The staff member in question must apply to Ms Corlia de Beer for staff discount, annually before the end of March. For your convenience, the form for this is attached. The staff discount covers the whole amount (excluding R1000,00) that is required for registration every year, as indicated above.
  • Please provide a separate budget for any expenses that are foreseen in addition to the registration cost.
  • A formal contract is signed if the application was successful.

CRITERIA FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT

  • Financial support can be given to staff for part-time MA and PhD study on the basis of a motivation provided by the applicant (see below).
  • The student must formally register at the NWU before or on 31 March of the year in question before the financial support can come into effect.
  • All other institutional financial support must be declared in this application before a final decision about the application can be made.
  • Any additional relevant motivations in support of the application may also be submitted (for example proof of expenditures, plans for scientific travels, etc.).
