Jeffrey Gerish – narrative biography

Jeffrey Gerish is a member of Plunkett Cooney’s Insurance Coverage and Appellate Practice groups. He attended undergrad at the University of Michigan. He also graduated from the University of Michigan law school in 1994, where he was an editor of the Journal of Law Reform and a semifinalist in the Campbell Moot Court Competition before joining Plunkett Cooney. He is licensed in and regularly practices in Michigan and Indiana, and is also licensed in numerous federal appellate and district courts.

Mr. Gerish represents insurers in insurance coverage disputes of all types at the trial court and appellate court levels. Mr. Gerish has presented oral argument in more than 200 appeals, and cases on which he served as lead appellate counsel have resulted in more than 40 published opinions, in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and several federal appellate circuit courts. His appellate practice encompasses business and personal litigation matters as well as insurance coverage.

Mr. Gerish has been named to Michigan Super Lawyers for appellate practice repeatedly since 2009, and has been named in Best Lawyers in America for appellate law from 2014 to 2016. He was also identified as a Leading Lawyer in Civil Appellate Law and Insurance Coverage in 2015. He is a regular speaker in the areas of insurance coverage and appellate practice, and has published several works.
