STUDENT TEACHER'S WEEKLY CHECKLIST

Keep this checklist in yellow folder

INSTRUCTIONS: This is a working document. Changes are the norm not the exception. You may wish to add tasks and events specific to your school/classroom.

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WRITING IN DATES WHEN REQUIREMENTS ARE DUE.

FIRST EXPERIENCE

WEEK 1: Dates:

Work on your family project (Read directions and rubrics carefully.)

Create a bulletin board or learning center.

Work on Observation With a Purpose. Keep in yellow folder until supervisor has seen it

completed.

Contact music, phy. ed., art specialist, and begin observations of them.

Write introductory letter to families. Ask cooperating teacher to proofread it. Place a copy in

yellow folder.

On Thursday, email schedule to supervisor. Do this every week.

Make certain you know all school policies and all school procedures for emergency drills.

Send (electronically) Form C-1 to your supervisor.

Complete Long Range Plan and return electronically to supervisor

WEEK 2: Dates:

Complete observation with a purpose.

Observe/Teach music, physical education., and art.

Contact cooperating teacher for your second experience

Put in yellow folder for supervisor:

Lesson plan plus observation form for the class your supervisor plans to observe

Lesson plans (all that you taught and all you planned for the future)

Observation With a Purpose

Self Evaluations (can be hand written until you put them in portfolio)

WEEK 3: Dates:

Type the name of your topic, objectives and description of activities for your home kit.

Place in yellow folder.

Send family kits home.

WEEK 4: Dates:

Video tape. Review this with your classroom teacher. Complete evaluation form. Bring this form to a discussion with cooperating teacher as he/she completes an evaluation of the tape.

Read directions and rubrics before you tape.

Place your paperwork and the cooperating teacher’s evaluation in your portfolio to be given to your supervisor at the end of your first teaching experience.

WEEK 5: Dates:

Work on family project: interview 5 teachers.

WEEK 6: Dates:

Email your regular weekly schedule and possible times for a final conference.

Include at least 3 possible times for the conference.

Contact other teachers to arrange a time to observe during Week 8.

WEEK 7: Dates:

Final conference with supervisor and cooperating teacher this week or next. (See “Final

Conference” form in handbook, located in “Forms to Complete”. Be prepared with

written notes.)

Remind cooperating teacher to have Final Evaluation and recommendation ready for our final

conference.

Prepare final materials for your portfolio. Include checklist ______. Read all rubrics.

Make sure your schedule for observations for next week is acceptable with your cooperating teacher.

WEEK 8: Dates:

Teach half time. Observe half time.

Complete "Mid-term Feedback to Supervisor" form. Be ready to discuss this with your supervisor at next observation. (Week 10 or 11)

Complete the “Observation Week” form

NOTE: no schedule is needed for week 1.

SECOND EXPERIENCE

WEEK 9: Dates:

Write and send letter to families. Place a copy in yellow folder.

Work on unit.

Work on Observation With a Purpose, place in yellow folder.

Create a bulletin board or learning center.

Observe your cooperating teacher and other teachers in the building.

Complete form C-2; Send electronically to your supervisor.

Complete long range plan; Send electronically to your supervisor

Complete “Observation Week” form

WEEK 10: Dates:

Put in yellow folder for supervisor:

“Responses to Questions: Working with Parents/Caregivers.” (Assignment in handbook:

Working with Families)

Unit: Introduction, objectives, parent letter and outline

WEEK 11: Dates:

Begin teaching unit.

WEEK 12: Dates:

WEEK 14:Dates:

With your weekly schedule, email 3 possible times for final conferences. ( )

WEEK 15: Dates:

Final conference this week or next.

Prepare final materials for your portfolio. Include checklist. ( ).

Continue to teach full time through week 16.
