Certified Professional Initial Training:
Date CP Initial Training taken (include copy of certificate with application)Note: Initial certification training is valid for one year from the date of completion by the applicant. If the date of your attendance at a CP Initial Training is over a year from the date you plan on submitting your application, you need to retake the initial certification training before you can apply.
Applicant’s Post-Secondary Education:
In order to qualify as a CP, you are required to have earned a minimum of a bachelor's degree from a recognized educational institution in one of these disciplines: biology; chemistry; environmental sciences; geology; hydrogeology; toxicology; scientific subdisciplines of public health or hazardous waste management; or appropriate areas of engineering. If your degree is not in one of these fields, make sure with the VAP that your degree qualifies before you apply for certification.

*An applicant who has earned advanced degrees from recognized educational institutions in addition to those required to meet the minimum educational requirements may request that the director credit :
- one year credit for each relevant master's degree; or
- two years credit for a relevant doctorate degree
toward the requirements for relevant professional experience if the applicant can demonstrate, to the director's satisfaction, that the advanced degree(s) constitute relevant experience. A maximum of two years credit may be granted. Include any additional credit toward your professional experience in Section 3.
