The purpose of these grants

The Foundation for First Responders and Firefighters grants are a special type of grant given out by the Firefighters Support Foundation. They are intended to fund the purchase of training and/or equipment that can be used by multiple agencies in a regional area -- preferably some combination of fire/police/EMS/emergency-management/S&R, or at least by many fire agencies in the area. We require that you commit to this kind of multiple agency and regional sharing, although one agency can take the lead.

Instructions

1) Fill out each section this form by typing directly into the form. We do not require that you preserve the exact formatting of this form, just its rough formatting. Handwritten applications are accepted, but please: penmanship counts. We can't make a grant if we can't decipher the application, particularly the contact information.

2) Keep the form one-sided only

5) Please do not send your application certified mail or on any other way that requires a signature. Our office staff is in and out of the office all the time, and often work remotely.

6) Do not send these instruction pages in with the application.

What will happen after you mail this application in:

-- Please assume we received it - the USPS doesn't lose much mail. Asking us to check and see if we've received it only slows us down.

-- We will keep it on file for a year.

-- We make grants on a rolling basis (funds allowing) and will email you if you are selected.

-- Please note that we receive many more grant applications than we can fund.

What you should do in the meantime:

We communicate by email. If you are selected we will send an email to the email address that you put on the form. If we don't get a reply within 24 hours, we send a second email. If that second email isn't replied to within 24 hours, we select another department to receive the grant. So please make sure that the email you include on this application is checked at least daily.

If Your Application is Fulfilled

Should FSF fulfill your grant application, here’s what will happen:

1) We will let you know you have been selected by email.

2) We will then ask for a quote from a vendor for the funded item(s). There's no need to include a quote now

3) After we receive the quote we will email you an agreement to sign in which you agree to:

-- Use the funds for your stated purpose within 90 days

-- Provide us with copies of the receipts for the purchased items

-- Send us a digital picture of the items, preferably with personnel using them

-- Give us permission to post the grant information and picture on our website.

4) After we receive the signed agreement, we will mail you the check.
