Chance: Tonight,we will go through the regular agenda then go through the line-item and block bill. You cannot leave this meeting unless cleared with the secretary. This is the most important meeting of the year. For line and block, we will go through recommendations of the committee. When done with allocations, groups can contest allocations by asking a sitting member of the finance committee to give a speech. Fee will be this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Keep in mind that you are all representing the finance committee outside of meetings. Keep your questions and comments respectful

2018-112 A BILL TO FUND THE FIRST NATIONS STUDENT ASSOCIATION’S POWWOW AND INDIGENOUS CULTURE FESTIVAL
Jalen: Powwow on March 31st at the Lied Center. Asking for $1400 for honorariums. FNSA is an open group on campus. We have reached out to big companies and local businesses as well.
Member: Can you go through why you chose these people?
Jalen: These people are well known names, locals. They have been selected for powwows in the past. I don’t know their purpose, because I am from a different culture.
Joe: What is the powwow?
Jalen: Multiple tribes come together and dance.

2018-113 A BILL TO FUND UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS SOLAR CAR
We were looking for $1900, but we want to move materials down to $650, for a total of $750

Speaker: We are attempting to build our own solar ray and build the electrical system. In the future, we will try to get corporate sponsors. There are 3 competitions, biannual. This is a 2-year project, $40000-$50000

2018-114 A BILL TO FUND KU VISUAL ART – EXPANDED MEDIA CLUB
Dan Stewart and Jacob: Requesting $500 to rent a theatre for a screening and exhibition.We anticipate 70-100 members. Should allow us to present our work in a high-profile environment. This will benefit us as professionals. $500 goes straight to rental fee for the venue. We plan to represent KU to a large audience
Skev: The theatre in KC has things that we don’t have on campus?
Dan: It is a professional space, has better equipment to screen their work
Seth: How many students are benefitted
Dan: It is beneficial to all KU art students, they can display their work in a professional environment.
Apramay: Screening films by members of your club?
Dan: Yes, and the screening is open to all students
Brittany: How do you select who is screening and not?
Dan: We will decide

2018-115 A BILL TO FUND THE ASIAN AMERICAN STUDENT UNION’S TASTE OF ASIA EVENT
Event is open to all students. Asking for money to support our variety show. Most events have been free so far. Right now, we are needing money to cover for Lion Dancers.
Skev: Could you reuse decorations from past events?
Speaker: We are needing new decorations, but are using past ones as well
Brittany: Where is it taking place
Speaker: Union Ball Room, and we are being charged

Speaker: We are expecting 150 people. Looking to print 75 pamphlets and 50 flyers roughly.

Speaker: I am looking for a negative speech. Looking to strike postcards and posters for piano. The amount will still stay at $1020. This event is Sunday, March 4th. It will be co-hosted with NAVO.
Speaker 2: Our goal for the past year has been to increase outreach to give students a wider understanding of contemporary music. We have collaborated with NAVO to host this concert at the Lied Pavilion. Open to questions

Zoya: asking for an honorarium. Social media forum to recreate narrativeof Muslim women in Western India. Event will be in the forum in Marvin Hall. Asking to friendly to $1250. Our first half we raised through independent donations. MSA open to all students. Try to focus on Muslimmillennials. When I first joined, we had 5 people, now we are at 30. We are hoping for 120 for this event. It is very rare to get a Muslim speaker. I am open to questions.

Chance: They can do a line-item change, or the money can be returned to the Student Senate Reserve Fund
Member: What is the Engineering student council spending $2000 on?
Chance: This is for making booths at expos. Keep in mind that the treasurers have to follow rules and track expenses.

Speaker: I want to revise honorarium. Speakers are unattainable because the group has to wait for Student Senate to receive money, because Hispanic Heritage Month is early in the year. It would be helpful for them to have half of the requested amount.

Speaker: Our most expensive speaker was $4000
Member: How much will the full honorarium cost?
Speaker: $1250 would cover half of a speaker. It would be helpful to tell the speaker that we have some funding already.

Member: It was amended down because they only had 400 of expenditures as a whole. They then wanted to expand and requested $4800 as a whole.
