A meeting of the Board of Education of the Metropolitan School District of Washington Townshipwas held at the H. Dean Evans Community and Education Center, 8550 Woodfield Crossing Blvd., Indianapolis, IN 46240, on October 28, 2009 at the hour of 7:00 p.m. (Local Time), pursuant to notice duly given in accordance with the rules of the Board.
The meeting was called to order by the President of the Board of Education.

The President stated that the Board had previously discussed pursuing referenda pursuant to Indiana Code 20-46-1. After discussion of the referenda, the Board adopted the resolution attached as Exhibit A by a vote of ______.

BOARD OF EDUCATION
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Board of Education is concerned that based on the projected funding per student that it will not be able to carry out is public education duty unless it imposes a referendum tax levy; and
WHEREAS, Indiana Code 20-46-1-8(a)(1) provides that a school corporation may adopt a resolution to place a referendum on the ballot for the purpose of imposing a referendum tax levy as needed in order to carry out its public education duty; and
WHEREAS, Indiana Code 20-46-1-14 provides that the referendum shall be held in the next primary or general election in which all the registered voters who are residents of the appellant school corporation are entitled to vote after certification of the question under IC 3-10-9-3;
WHEREAS, the School Corporationdesires to hold this referendumon May 4, 2010; now therefore,
BE ITRESOLVED by the Board of Education of the Metropolitan School District of Washington Township that it determines that a referendum tax levy under Indiana Code 20-46-1-8(a)(1) should be imposed in order to carry out its public education duty.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the question to be submitted to the voters shall read as follows: "For the seven calendar years immediately following the holding of the referendum, shall the Metropolitan School District of Washington Township impose a property tax rate that does notexceed eight cents ($0.08)on each one hundred dollars ($100) of assessed valuation and that is in addition to the school corporation's normal tuition support tax rate?"
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Board of Education shall certify a copy of this resolution to the MarionCounty City-County Councilpursuant to Indiana Code 20-46-1-8.
