Directions:
To help you to understand what it was like for the immigrants in our novel to come into American during the early 1900’s, we are going to explore the history of Ellis Island. You will use the websites listed on our SFA homework page.
Part 1
First, go to the websites to read about the history and take an interactive tour of Ellis Island.
Make sure to also look at the photos and listen to the audio section.
Part 2
Second, complete the handout about the immigration process – Coming to America
Part 3
Third, interview someone who was an immigrant to the United States. This can be someone who has come to America anywhere in the last 50 years. Complete the handout and record their answers.
