Have You Found An EA To Manage Your Taxes This Year?
Washington, DC – The April 18 deadline to file your taxes is approaching rapidly – do you know who’s doing your taxes?
The National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA), a national association of more than 10,000 independent, licensed tax professionals, has launched a new directory that allows taxpayers to quickly and easily find an enrolled agent (America’s Tax Experts) in their area.
The new “Find an EA Directory” is mobile-friendly and features a variety of criteria taxpayers may choose from when selecting an enrolled agent, including location, specialty and money-saving offers. Jeff Gentner, EA and chair of the NAEA IT Task Force, spearheaded the launch of this new directory, and has heard positive feedback from new clients gained through the directory.
“Showing exactly where EAs are located is an improved feature, along with the bio and photo. I have also noticed that new clients are asking specifically about the EA credential and some have mentioned that they have heard about EAs in other advertising - that's new!” Gentner said.
There are many benefits to choosing an enrolled agent to manage your taxes this season. Enrolled agents are federally licensed tax practitioners who both specialize in tax preparation and have unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. The enrolled agent license is the highest credential the IRS issues.
Taxpayers may also use the directory to search for an enrolled agent who is a member of NAEA and/or an NTPI Fellow®( A Fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute™). NAEA offers members continuing education and other resources, while holding them to a code of ethics. By selecting an enrolled agent who is an NAEA Member, taxpayers will rest easy in the knowledge that their tax preparer has been required to fulfill continuing education on the constantly changing tax code – exceeding the number of hours required by the IRS. EAs with the designation of NTPI Fellow have achieved the highest distinction in representation.
