Position Summary:
Responsible for training housekeeping staff , both new hires and existing staff. Provides in-service education and training for all new employees and refresher training for present employees.Serves as an expert housekeeper and general educator for both out-patient and in-patient housekeepers in both clinical and non-clinical settings.
Essential Functions
- Provide a variety of employee training opportunities to staff as new and present employees.
- Evaluate the progress of each individual’s training, learning ability and provide a structured, on the job experience, tailored to them.
- Observe employees at their respective work areas and determine if job functions are carried out in a manner that promotes consistency and overall effectiveness.
- Prepare training and job function materials that facilitate the various positions in the department and promote guided learning.
- Performannual competency checks and training for all existing staff concerning general housekeeping procedures.
- Educate housekeeping staff on infection prevention guidelines and procedures.
- Actively communicate EVS supervisors and the managers, the strengths and weaknesses of new employees and those individuals participating in refresher training.
- Work closely with EVS Supervisors and the EVS Manager to keep them informed of any potential or actual problems regarding personnel that participate in new or refresher training.

Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Two years experience as a housekeeper in a clinical setting
- Working knowledge of computers and software applications including Microsoft Office (predominantly Word and Excel) and industry specific programs.
DESIRED:
- Two years experience providing on-the-job training to new and existing employees
- Association of Healthcare Environment CHEST certification
Physical/Sensory Demands:
Walking, standing, reaching, pulling/pushing weights over 50 pounds, lifting/lowering over 50 pounds, carrying weights over 50 pounds, bending/stooping/crouching, twisting/turning, driving, manual dexterity, and hand/eye coordination. Applicant must also be able to see, perceive depths and discriminate odors.
Working Conditions:
Indoors and outdoors environment.Extreme heat and cold possible.Dampness/humidity possible. Working at heights required. Vibration, noise, radiation, poor lighting, mechanical hazards, hazardous chemicals, infectious diseases, skin irritants and lung irritants are all likely exposures. Job requires working closely with others as well as working alone. Evening hours are predominate. Hours sometimes vary and overtime may occasionally be required. Protective clothing and equipment are often required.
Health and Safety Requirements:
Update CPR skills in accordance with CH policy. Understand and comply with CH safety procedures including code and evacuation procedures. Comply with Confluence Health and EVS Department standards pertaining to the use of sick leave and unpaid absences. Understand and follow all universal blood and body fluid precautions, associated engineering and work practice controls, and personal protective equipment requirements. Must not pose a threat to the health or safety of selfor others.
