Provides basic instruction in stage movement including: mime, stage combat t'ai chi, creative movement and dance. Scene study and character work included.
Learning Outcomes
1. Students will demonstrate greater physical agility, spontaneity, grace, strength and focus.
2. Students will learn and apply relaxation techniques that link breath release to movement.
3. Students will learn to safely engage in stage combat.
4. Students will learn to identify movement potential in a scene or improvisation.
Objectives
1. Apply concepts of critical evaluation to movement used by the actor on stage.
2. Evaluate the variety of movement styles used by the actor in performance.
3. Physically articulate his/her body in a substantially strong manner on stage.
4. Recognize his/her performance skills in movement on stage.
5. Evaluate performance skills of professional actors, mimes, dancers in order to apply to his/her own development.

Attendance and Participation
This course requires active participation each day of class and it is important for you to attend every class session, arrive on time, and come prepared. Your participation not only enhances your own learning, it benefits other students in the class, especially when the class is doing group work. Your level of participation is reflected in your grade and since you can’t participate if you are not in class, absences will also be reflected in your grade.
TA 250 Lab
This course requires .9 hours per week of arranged hours to be fulfilled in Room 5131 (Music Building). It is the student’s responsibility to record their attendance and they should do so by signing in each time they attend the lab. The instructor will collect these hours periodically. Arranged hours are class time and all students are expected to meet this number of hours per week to fulfill the requirements of this course.

Actor’s Showcase Monday Dec. 10 7pm. All are encouraged to participate in this presentation in front of an audience of peers, family, friends. It’s great! And it may be used in lieu of the Dec. 14 final date.
