Context & Purpose of Role /

Media and Communications Manager is part of the Leadership team and will be responsible to develop and implement strategies to enhance Ondru’s external stakeholder relations through effective, targeted and credible media and to ensure consistent and cohesive messages are delivered to all stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities / The position is responsible for:
1.  Media and Communications
·  Oversee and manage the promotion of Ondru through various media and coordinates effectively with media & communications staff and support;
·  Advise the CEO and the Leadership team on media issues and co-ordinate their relations to relevant media;
·  Manage day-to-day relations with the media, preparing media releases and key messages and ensuring these messages are conveyed in multiple formats;
·  Manage Digital Communications including Social Media and Newsletters;
·  Be responsible for the production of media releases, announcements, editorial and speeches to ensure Ondru presents strong;
·  Develop media strategies that align with market needs, assist in building brand awareness and grow market opportunities. Provide strategic direction for emerging media and public relations (PR) channels and develop appropriate plans and processes to leverage opportunities;
·  Develop and maintain networks with key media and personnel to enable ready access as required;
·  Manage broader media relationships for key spokespeople so they have a database of key contacts as required;
·  Identify and pitch relevant stories to select media in order to maximise editorial coverage across all elements of the Ondru brand;
·  Develop a media strategy for all exhibition and brand campaigns;
·  Undertake strategic communications audit and develop communication strategies for engaging both internal and external stakeholders on matters of strategic importance;
·  Work cross-functionally to support the activities of the Board, Leadership and Management teams including media releases and opportunities, speech writing and development of presentation slides or other communication tools.
2.  Promotion and Marketing
·  Manage production and distribution of print advertising and marketing collateral for the organisation;
·  Develop and execute Marketing and Communications strategy;
·  Promote Ondru and its activities on Social Media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc;
·  Review marketing and communication activities to ensure they are linked to organisational goals and objectives, and leverage assets across Ondru to enhance its brand and reputation;
·  Review Ondru publications and other promotional activities and develop an integrated marketing plan for public outreach and sponsorships/ partnerships;
·  Review and redevelop the presentation of website, intranet, social media and other digital applications to ensure currency and communication excellence whilst enabling continuous improvement;
·  Identify, develop and co-ordinate merchandising opportunities for Ondru .
3.  People
·  Model positive leadership to facilitate forward thinking, creativity and innovative solutions;
·  Contribute to the successful operation of Ondru by working collaboratively to meet organisational goals and strategies .
4.  Reporting
·  Monitor and report on the evaluation of marketing and communications initiatives;
·  Oversee maintenance of appropriate databases;
·  Submit clear and concise reports as required.
5.  Leadership, Collaboration and Teamwork
·  Effective leadership and management of direct reports, external suppliers and internal relationships across Ondru;
·  Foster timeline development and monitor progress, ensuring deadlines are met;
·  Work with external and other internal stakeholders to ensure the marketing and communications team is aligned to their requirements;
·  Work closely with Ondru’s leadership team to establish the appropriate marketing and communication tools for Ondru projects.
Key Relationships /

You will be working closely with the CEO, other members of the leadership team, fellow managers, volunteers, artists, contractors and partners.

Key Selection Criteria / 1.  Relevant tertiary qualification and demonstrated work experience in relevant area, such as marketing/communications, journalism and/or digital communications;
2.  Experience in PR, social media strategy or related stakeholder communications activity;
3.  Exceptional writing and editing skills, including speech writing and copywriting
4.  Demonstrated ability to communicate to a wide range of stakeholder
5.  Demonstrated experience developing and delivering media and public relations strategies
6.  Proven ability to source media contacts and establish good media relationships and use these to identify opportunities and place stories
7.  An ability to respond quickly and appropriately to media events/ issues/requests/ online trending issues
8.  Experience working with new media including social media and online campaigns
9.  Demonstrated capacity to contribute to advocacy strategy development
10.  Proven ability to plan and implement stakeholder engagement programmes
11.  Demonstrated capacity to plan and implement strategic lobbying and advocacy campaigns
