Throughout the past four years, Sean has contributed to Tri-County FFA through a wide variety of endeavors. Previously he has served as chapter reporter as well as District I Secretary. Sean has had the opportunity to attend various state conferences such as PLT and SOAR, twice serving as a counselor for FIRE. Sean also has experience at the national level, Attending WLC in 2012 and National Convention the past four years. Additionally Sean, along with Dakota Westphal, was the first ever co-recipient of the Valerie James Spirit of Leadership Award.

Sean has been involved in a wide variety of Career Development Events (CDE’s) during his five years of membership. His FFA career began when a close friend encouraged him to participate in Soils Evaluation. After that first competition, Sean expanded his resume to include Crops Evaluation, Dairy Foods Evaluation, Agricultural Issues, Agribusiness Management, and much more. Sean was a member of the Marketing Team that received a National Silver Emblem Award, and has advanced to the National Agriscience Fair three separate times, receiving two silver medals and one bronze. He has also been successful in both Agricultural Issues, placing in the top 4 at the state level twice, and Agribusiness Management, with two consecutive runner-up finishes.

Sean’s SAE program consists of two separate areas. The first is Agriscience Research. He has designed and executed experiments testing the flammability of commonly used animal bedding material, as well one experiment that compared the efficiency of ethanol to the fossil fuel kerosene. He continued his research by conducting a survey to determine what factors cause students to join FFA. His most recent research project compared technologies used to manage downforce on planters. Sean was named the 2015 District I Star in Agriscience. His second area is Agricultural Service. Sean is employed by Solid Rock Farms where he works closely with the owners of the company to design and implement various promotion materials. He also works directly with customers to inform them of upcoming events.

Harrington graduated 3rd out of 50 students, maintaining a GPA of 3.95. His academic success helped him obtain membership in National Honor Society. He has been a member of both the varsity track and cross country teams. He has also been an active member of Business Professionals of America, and had the privilege of serving as the 2014-2015 State President of the Indiana BPA Association.

Upon completing a year of service for the Indiana FFA Association as a state officer, Sean plans to attend Indiana University majoring in Nonprofit Management, continuing on to law school after completing his undergraduate work. He hopes to have a successful career in the nonprofit industry, hoping to one day work for the National FFA Organization.
