A SENATE RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING CHRISTOPHER “CHRIS” HARRIS PARR, OF FLORENCE COUNTY, ON HIS ACHIEVING THE ELITE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT WITH THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA, AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO HIM IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout is a tremendous honor that very few Boy Scouts ever achieve, and it is recognized as one of the most prestigious awards that a young man can earn; and

Whereas, on Sunday, June 11, 2006, Christopher “Chris” Parr of Florence County, a member of Boy Scout Troop 476, will be awarded the highest advancement rank in Scouting, the Eagle Scout Award by the Pee Dee Area Council at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Florence, South Carolina; and

Whereas, Chris Parr, a lifelong resident of Florence, South Carolina, is the son of Clifford and Patricia Parr. As a rising tenth grader at Wilson High School, he is an honor student, has been invited to be in National Beta Club, and upon graduation, hopes to attend Duke University and major in International Business; and

Whereas, along with being active in the Boy Scouts of America, and a dedicated student, Chris was President of his Williams Middle School’s Student Council, was a member of the Junior Beta Club, and ran track; and

Whereas, Chris is a Vice President of the Jack and Jill of America Florence Teen Chapter, is an award winning piano player, participates in his high school’s drum line and marching band, and plays on Wilson High School’s Junior Varsity Soccer team, of which he was named Most Valuable Player for 2006; and

Whereas, Chris, a faithful member of Cumberland United Methodist Church, has been an active member of the church’s youth choir, youth fellowship, and is an usher; and

Whereas, Chris is a South Carolina son who serves as a positive role model, not just for boy scouts, but for all of South Carolina’s young people. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Chris Parr on attaining the elite rank of Eagle Scout, and extend to him best wishes in all of his future endeavors.
