ACTIVITY SHEETMETAL TOOLBOX
- Open NX and choose New
- Select MY Documents and Cad Design folder and name your’ file name’ ***_toolbox (were *** are your 3 initials)
- Click the Sketch icon from the top toolbar
4. Carefully select one of the vertical planes (X-Z or Y-Z) by hovering the cursor over the Datums on the screen to highlight it and click left mouse button.
Select OK
- Draw the end shape of the toolbox base.
- Select the Inferred Dimensions icon.
- Click on the base line. Drag the dimension line clear of the sketch and type the width of your box then Enter on the keyboard
- Repeat for the height of the sides
- Choose Finish icon to return to Modeling
- Choose the Extrude icon from the top toolbar
- Select the sketched line and the extruded ‘base’ will appear.
- Enter a start distance of 0 and end distance of 260 by typing in the dialogue box or by dragging the green handles to length.
- Select OK and the Home key on the keyboard to fit the model to screen.
- Create a new sketch using the icon and choosing the same plane as the first sketch
- Sketch the shape of the end piece of your toolbox. (use original sketch as guide to size)
- Choose Finish icon to return to Modeling
- Choose the Extrude icon from the top toolbar
- Select the sketched line and the extruded ‘end will appear.
19. Enter a start distance of 0 and end distance of 1 by typing in the dialogue box or by dragging the green handles to length.
Select OK
- Repeat Steps 17 and 18.
- Enter a start distance of 259 and end distance of 260 by typing in the dialogue box or by dragging the green handles to length.
Select OK
- Your challenge is to now use the skills above to produce a handle for your toolbox.
