IRHS GIRLS BASKETBALL BOOSTER MEETING

October 19, 2010

Meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. by Liz O’Keefe. Meeting minutes for August 19th were approved with noted corrections.

Coaches Report:Coach Dickinson handed out the attendance report for preseason conditioning sessions. He noted that every team member should have the opportunity to earn their team spirit t-shirts. He provided an update on the style and color of t-shirts to be ordered. The girls ‘shooting shirts’ have been ordered and each girl will purchase her own shirt for $25.00. The spirit shirts will be paid from the girls account. First week of team try outs will be November 1st. An overview of the tryout schedule will be sent out to players next week. All team players must have clearance from the athletic office to be eligible to participate. Coach Dickinson will contact the athletic office to receive a list of players with clearance to date.

First Varsity scrimmage will be November 17th at IRHS. The thanksgiving tournament will be held thanksgiving week at SahuaroHigh School. The Christmas tournament will be held at PuschRidgeChristianAcademy – dates are December 27-30, 2010.

Discussion followed regarding previous injuries to players and possible options to prevent future ankle injury. Coach Dickinson requested that the Booster committee research preventative options to present to team players and parents. It was noted that preseason conditioning for all players has helped them to be in shape for the season.

Coach Dickinson reported that he has identified the person that he would like to have as his assistant varsity coach for the season. He has proposed the candidate to district Athletic department and review is under way. We will have more information at next meeting.

Treasurer’s Report:Michele Kroeger submitted balances for all basketball accounts: Booster Account: $ 980.93; Tax Credit Account: $1,318.58; Girls Account: $5,055.52. The proceeds from the car wash totaled $1,675.60. Congratulations to everyone who worked on this project.

Old Business:L. O’Keefe reported that she had submitted all paperwork for the 2010-2011 Booster committee to the bookstore. She will also email IRHS Athletic Director to confirm paperwork submitted.

Cow Drop Raffle: C. Seavitt reported that sales to date have been slow. Personnel at La Paloma have not been promoting the event as we thought they would. Discussion followed on ways to increase ticket sales. C. Seavitt requested that each parent submit emails to everyone on their mailing list requesting support for the fundraiser. We will also contact the NPO to see if we can list the fundraiser in the weekly newsletter. K. Bean will follow up with the NPO. Arizona Daily star will interview C. Seavitt and M. McCord for an article to run on November 11th.

New Business:Girls travel wear: we will purchase travel wear for new team members out of the girls account. Cost for jacket ($27.65) and pants ($23.95) is same as last year and freight will run about $30.00. Spirit Wear: we will explore items for parents to purchase through GTM and see if we can request sample items for preview prior to purchase.

Next Meeting:We will hold an all parent meeting on Thursday, November 4th at 6:30 p.m. in the IRHS Library Lecture Hall. Coach Dickinson will update families on team selection for the season and expectations.
