= Who we are, what’s our stake (why are you here? Why does this matter to you?)

= Grounding: Introduce yourself, your school and role, your expectations for the day, and how you feel about being here.

= Logistics (bathrooms, food, norms)

8:15-8:30Teacher Engage: Formative Assessment

= Stoplight Sheet w/color stickers: Definition of FA, Who is FA for?,FA strategies, regularity of FA use, interpretation of FA data)

8:30-8:35Student Engage 1: How Can You Measure Photosynthesis

= For this portion of the day, you will be wearing the hat of a student. Brainstorm ideas to measure psn – table groups – report out - chart ideas

8:35-9:30Student Explore 1: Leaf Disk Assay – Basic Protocol

= Introduction to Basic Protocol

  • Demonstration of basic protocol
  • Groups use basic protocol to collect and graph/report out data. Facilitator charts group data.

10:00– 10:30Student Engage 2: What Factors Affect Rate of Photosynthesis?

= Brainstorm ideas to measure factors that affect psnrate– table groups – report out - chart ideas

= Time for groups to conduct experiment
