Fifty Students Advance to Final Round

The University of the West Indies, in collaboration with Sterling Asset Management, has completed the Semifinal Round of the 2010 Jamaican Mathematical Olympiad. A total of 140 students sat the Semifinal Round Examination, which was held on March 27, 2010. These students came from 33 high schools throughout Jamaica. After assessing the examination scripts, the Department of Mathematics has determined that 50 students, the 10 best performers from each of the Grades 7—11, will advance to the Final Round. These students come from 22 high schools in Jamaica. The final round will consist of two activities. The first will be a workshop conducted by the Department of Mathematics for students in the Final Round. It will be held on Saturday, April 10, in the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences at the UWI, Mona Campus. The second event will be the Jamaican Mathematical Olympiad (Final Round). This will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2010, in the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences.
