COMMENTS

Were there any general areas in need of improvement that were not covered by the items on this form?
The only issue noted during peer inspection were:
1. Post exit sign above door leading to lift and stairway to parking lot
2. Remove used batteries and full waste glass container
3. A few empty gas cylinders remain in the laboratory which Kyle was going to check with previous laboratory safety officer, Oscar Martinez, on status and removal in cooperation with EHS
4. Should signage be posted for decommissioned lasers? At the SEAS Safety Meeting, EHS Laser Officer, Xiao-Wei Yan, commented that no signage should be posted with decommissioned research lasers as they might be moved and placed into operation subsequently. The out of date inspection sticker serves as a reminder that lasers outside the two-year inspection period should not be in operation.
Are there best practices or solutions that you can recommend?
Did you notice any best practices being used by lab members during the inspection?
Good communication of safety procedures and best practices with other members of the laboratory.
