9:30-9:45 – Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTAC) Update – Cathy Fairbanks, Director, Northwest Michigan PTAC
The Procurement Technical Assistance Center provides expert counseling services to businesses that are involved in government contracting or would like to become providers to the government at any level. Learn about what is happening in the UP around these efforts.

Career and Technical Education is an important component of developing the workforce in the UP and across the state. We have a robust and exciting CTE system in the UP. Learn what is happening now, how you can get involved and how you can benefit from this system.
10:30 – 11:00 – Community Initiative Center of Excellence for Secure Software – Girish Seshagiri, Executive Director
This initiative is a best practice for Information Technology careers internships. It is a “Learn and Earn” model that may be applied successfully in the UP. Learn what is happening in Illinois and how we might apply it here.

11:15 – 12:15 – Employment Panel – Transition Coordinators
Individuals with Disabilities are an important population who contribute to the UP workforce. Lieutenant Governor Calley has championed Transition Coordination panels, made up of a broad range of service providers to continue to bring employment opportunities to these individuals. Hear from a panel of regional leaders of this effort.
