CEO of Renova Management AG

Chairman of Sulzer Ltd., CEO and Delegate of the Board of Directors Renova Management AG, and Member of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bank, Board member of Thyssen-Bornemisza Group. Former CEO of Siemens. Previously President of Global Human Health and Member of the Executive Board of Merck, CEO of GE Healthcare Bio-Sciences and member of GE’s Corporate Executive Council. COO and member of the Board of Amersham Plc., senior leadership positions in Aventis and Hoechst. Mr. Löscher is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Siemens Foundation, Member Emeritus of the Advisory Board of the Economic Development Board of Singapore, Member of the Supervisory Board of the Technical University of Munich and Trustee of the Glyndebourne Arts Trust. He was appointed Honorary Professor at Tongji University Shanghai, holds an Honorary Doctorate of Engineering from Michigan State University and is Doctor Honoris Causa of Slovak University of Engineering in Bratislava. Carlo Ratti (Italy)

An architect and engineer by training, Carlo Ratti practices in Italy and teaches at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he directs the Senseable City Lab. He graduated from the Politecnico di Torino and the ÉcoleNationale des PontsetChaussées in Paris, and later earned his MPhil and PhD at the University of Cambridge, UK. Ratti has co-authored over 200 publications and holds several patents. His work has been exhibited worldwide at venues such as the Venice Biennale, the Design Museum Barcelona, the Science Museum in London, GAFTA in San Francisco and The Museum of Modern Art in New York. His Digital Water Pavilion at the 2008 World Expo was hailed by Time Magazine as one of the Best Inventions of the Year. He has been included in Esquire Magazine’s Best and Brightest list, in Blueprint Magazine’s 25 People who will Change the World of Design and in Forbes Magazine’s People you need to know in 2011. Ratti was a presenter at TED 2011 and is serving as a member of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council for Urban Management. He is a regular contributor to the architecture magazine Domus and the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore. He has also written as an op-ed contributor for BBC, La Stampa, Scientific American and The New York Times.

Rob van Kranenburg (Belgium)

Waag Society Fellow, Founder of Council, co-founder of Internet of People

Rob van Kranenburg is Founder of Council, the leading think tank for Internet of Things. He works in the EU FP7 project Sociotal.eu as Community manager. For the project he is Chair of AC8 - Societal Impact and Responsibility in the Context of IoT Applications of the IERC, The European Research Cluster on the Internet of Things. He is a Waag.org Fellow, and advisor to IoT China, Shanghai.

VitPrindis (Czech Republic)

Sportsman, Canoe

VitPrindis is a professional sportsman, member of the Czech national team in canoeing discipline. His best results include second place at the European Championship 2014, second place in the overall World Cup 2014, first place in the European Championship 2013, in the team race. Outside sports, Vit has completed his master studies at the Czech Technical University, Faculty of Biomedical Engineering. Coming fall he will start doctoral studies. Main focus of his research will be based on the quality of medical technology services in the Czech Republic and abroad.

Leo Mirani (UK)

Mr. Mirani is a reporter for Quartz in London. He has previously worked at The Economist, Time Out Mumbai and Tehelka. His writing has appeared in The Independent, The Sunday Telegraph, The Guardian, AFP and Elle India and he has earned datelines from places as far afield as Moscow, Nairobi and Valletta. His reporting interests include technology, policy, media, South Asia and the European project.

Rolf Schmidt-Holtz (Germany)

Founder of Just Software AG

Rolf Schmidt-Holtz is an examined lawyer and studied political science and psychology. He is Co-Founder and Chairman of the Just Software AG and Co-Founder and Partner of the Hanse Ventures BSJ GmbH. From February 2006 to March 2011, he was Chief Executive Officer of Sony Music Entertainment, New York. Prior to this, he served as a member of the Board of Bertelsmann AG, as Chief Executive Officer of Bertelsmann’s television division CLT-UFA (later RTL Group) and as a member of the Board of Publishers at Bertelsmann’s magazine division Gruner + Jahr AG & Co KG. He was publisher and editor-in-chief of the magazine Stern, beforehand editor-in-chief of the WDR Television Division and started his career as managing editor at the German Federal Press Office (Bundespresseamt) and as TV correspondent of the ARD. Today, he is also a member of the Bertelsmann Foundation’s Board of Trustees and member of the Board of Directors of the RTL Group S.A.

Petra Matijaković (Croatia)

Co-founder of Youth Time, working as official representative of organisationand also is involved in the development of relations with potential partners of the movement. Sergei Kara-Murza (Russia)

Professor, Chief Research Scientist of the Russian Academy of Sciences

Sergei Kara-Murza, a scientist, certified chemist and a sociologist. He is the author of many writings that have been published over a number of years regarding political and social crises, studies concerning the social consciousness and society in general. His work "Manipulation of consciousness" was included in the social and political sciences courses of many Russian universities.

Lorraine Nugent (UK)

Lorraine Nugent heads up two successful businesses in the UK, one a leading public relations agency, Media Word Waves. The company offers an extensive media network and works with a variety of large corporates across a range of industry sectors with a specialism in working in the education sector and young entrepreneurs. Lorraine has recently been nominated as Influential Woman of the year with the Natwest Venus Awards. Lorraine is also Founding Partner and Managing Director of the entrepreneurial initiative– Young Start-up Talent which currently operates in various regions in the UK. This business advises and works with young entrepreneurs from the age of 16 to 25 years to inspire, assist and advise young people to start-up and create sustainable businesses.

Vladimir Yakunin (Russia)

Founding President of the WPF “Dialogue of Civilizations”

Ph.D. in Political Sciences and President of JSC Russian Railways, Vladimir Yakunin is also the founder of WPF “Dialogue of Civilizations”. Between 1985 and 1991, Mr. Yakunin was Second and then First Secretary of the USSR’s Permanent Representative Office at the United Nations. He was then Chairman of the Board at the International Centre for Business Cooperation before becoming head of the North-Western Federal District Inspectorate of the Senior Control Department of the President of the Russian Federation. Vladimir Yakunin was appointed president of Russian Railways Joint Stock Company by the Government of the Russian Federation in June 2005 and has held this position ever since.

Collaboration with the daily newspaper “Rinascita”, the review for geopolitical studies “Eurasia” (Deputy Director)), the biweekly “Nasha Gazeta”, “Il Ducato-Terre Estensi”; wrote articles focused on geopolitical issues and international relations about Europe, China, Myanmar, Thailand, Morocco, Cuba, Brazil, Middle and Near East, former Yugoslavia, Russia and the conflict in Northern Ireland (since 2003).

At only 19 years of age Matt Turner set up his first business - Creative Pod, an award winning, full service design, marketing and print agency. Matt has also completed several acquisitions to grow the business and now employes over 12 people. Creative Pod look after the design and marketing for leading companies such as Hyundai, BMW and The Islamic Development Bank. Four years ago Matt also won Young Entrepreneur of the Year along with being in the top 16 young entrepreneurs in Europe by Business Week magazine. Matt is also co-Founder of Young Start-up Talent, an entrepreneurial initiative aimed to inspire 16-25 year olds to start their first business with a £50k prize.

Finally, Matt is also a board Director for League One Crawley Town FC making Matt the youngest Director in professional football in the UK.

Petr Piruncik (Czech Republic)

Diplomat, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic

Petr Piruncik studied at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague (Russian language and literature – Political Science) and the University of New Orleans, LA, USA. After graduation he worked as a representative of an American study-abroad program in Prague (USAC), as a translator and lecturer. In 2009, he started working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic; after a year at the Diplomatic Academy and a training at the Czech embassy in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, he worked at the CFSP Dept. Then he moved to the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Moscow (2010). Currently (since August 2014) he has been working at the Department of Central European Countries of the MFA in Prague. Mr. Piruncik is married and likes reading, hiking and listening to jazz and classical music.

Born in Vallecorsa (Fr) as a student he won different fellowship in Poland (1974), Greece (1975), Sweden (1976), and after his Medical Degree, in Norway (1981), and by the Council of Europe (1983) and the Unicef (1985). Laurea cum Laude in Medicine and Surgery by the University La Sapienza di Roma (1977), specialties in Epidemiology (1981) and in Forensic Psichiatry (1984). In 2005 Degree in Law by the University La Sapienza di Roma. Courses in International Management - INSEAD (1989) and Marketing Management - Columbia University (1990). Certified journalist since 1988, author of more than 50 scientific articles and editor of 7 books.

HrishabhSandilya (India)

Co-Founder of the Insaniyat Initiative and Advisor to the President of Anglo-American University in Prague

HrishabhSandilya is co-founder of the TheInsaniyat Initiative, a non-profit think-and-action tank, based in Prague. Formerly VP for External Relations & Development at Anglo-American University, Hrishabh is a writer, moderator and societal innovator. Hrishabh is passionate about his work on India, South Asia and Urbanity and lectures at universities in India and Europe. Born and raised in Bombay he received his undergraduate degree at the University of Mumbai, before proceeding onto a Master's and a Doctorate in Politics & American Studies from Charles University in Prague. Hrishabh is a bilingual English & Hindi speaker who also speaks Czech. Outside the office and when he is not travelling,Hrishabh can be found riding his bicycle across Prague, taking advantage of the myriad cultural activities on offer and contributing to the discourse with his passion for culinary, musical and literary endeavours.

Tiago Fereira Lopes (Portugal)

Analyst on Caucasus and Middle Asia. Lecturer at Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, Kirikkale University; Cross-Cultural Ambassador of UNESCO Club, Sorbonne University

Tiago Ferreira Lopes has a degree in Media Studies and a PhD in International Relations. He is a Lecturer at Kirikkale University (Turkey) responsible for the courses of International Terrorism, Diplomatic English, Audiovisual Reflections in World Politics, Comparative History of Civilizations, History of Colonialism and Imperialism, and Media and International Relations. Tiago is also a Cross-Cultural Ambassador (nominated by the UNESCO Club of Sorbonne University) and the Coordinator of the Portuguese-based “Platform 20*10 for the Alliance of Civilizations”, an autonomous project of the Observatory for Human Security that is part of UNAOC’S network. Tiago Ferreira Lopes is also a researcher focused on Transitology, post-soviet affairs and ethno-complexity in conflict zones.

Fred Dallmayr (USA)

Co-chairman, WPF “Dialogue of Civilizations, Professor at the University of Notre Dame

He holds a Doctor of Law degree from the University of Munich (1955) and a Ph.D. in political science from Duke University (1960). He has been a visiting professor at Hamburg University in Germany and at the New School for Social Research in New York, and a Fellow at Nuffield College in Oxford. He has been teaching at Notre Dame University since 1978. During 1991-92 he was in India on a Fulbright research grant.

Among his recent publications are: Small Wonder: Global Power and Its Discontents (2005) and In Search of the Good Life: A Pedagogy for Troubled Times (2007).

He is past president of the Society for Asian and Comparative Philosophy (SACP). He is also a member of the Scientific Committee of "RESET - Dialogue on Civilizations."

Julia Kinash (Czech Republic)

In 2010, Youth Time Movement was established and Youth Time Magazine went to print. Julia graduated from Moscow State Humanitarian University majoring in Management. She is currently doing a PhD in Conflict Management. The theme of her PhD work is “Role of Media in Political Conflicts”. Since that time Julia has been responsible for the general management of them both.

Walter Schwimmer (Austria)

Former Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Co-Chairman of the World Public Forum “Dialogue of Civilizations”, Chairman of the International Coordinating Committee, WPF “DoC”

Walter Schwimmer was born on June 16, 1942 in Vienna, Austria where he studied law at Vienna University and graduated doctor of law in 1964. He engaged himself in the movement of Young Christian Workers (YCW). In 1971 he was elected to the Austrian Parliament (Nationalrat). He was re-elected seven times to the parliament. When the Berlin Wall fell and the division of Europe into West and East came to an end, Walter Schwimmer started to work for the integration of the new democracies as equal partners into Pan-European structures. In June 1999, he was elected Secretary General of the Council of Europe (September 1999 - August 2004). One of his political priorities was the inter-cultural and inter-religious dialogue. He established close relations with the League of Arab States and was the first Secretary General of the Council of Europe to attend a ministerial conference and a summit of heads of state of the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation. Walter Schwimmer is the author of several books and articles, in particular of “The European Dream”, published also in German (“Der Traum Europa”), Italian (“Sognare Europa”), Russian (“Мечты O Европе”) and Serbian (“San Evropa”).

Yulia Gottstein (Czech Republic)

Sphere of scientific interests lies in the field of political processes in post-​Soviet countries. For the last nine years she has worked in journalism and supervises different media projects. In 2010, Yulia joined Youth Time and the organizing process of creating of Youth Time magazine. Spheres of interests: Intercultural communication, Sociolinguistics, and Comparative Linguistics.

Themistocles Papadimopoulos (Greece)

Themis studied in University of Aegean and University of Piraeus in Greece, attended seminars from Georgetown University and Baruch College in the US, and after his MBA he started lessons about Art in University of Athens. His interests are philosophy, dance, travel and politics. He works since 2007 in tourism industry as a marketing and business consultant and he also is a proud follower of Youth Time Movement since the moment of its founding.

Anja has additionally developed her concern for social problems and wealth fare of society at the Faculty of Political Sciences, Social Work and Social Policy Department, University of Belgrade. She has worked for GIZ as a Professional Orientation Trainer and researcher, and as an Article Writer for the psychological counseling web site. Her main interests are education and mental health fields, and her life mission is to become an educator and coach. Anja’s strongest belief is that the cup of emotion and cup of humor are prerequisites for success in everything we do.
