Current Youth Social Action Fund Projects in Worcestershire

Love Our Space
St. Chad’s Church, Rubery
Rubery is a community that sits on the border between Worcestershire and Birmingham and is cut in half by the A38. This project is led by young people from this divided community who are going to create a piece of public art that will symbolise unity and the process will bring together a range of young people, some of who will meet for the first time, as they engage a professional artist to bring their vision to reality. / The Games Club Juniors
Your Ideas, Youth & Community Project
This is a great example of self-help. The group runs a weekly games club for 15 to 24 year olds who are on the autistic spectrum. This is really successful bringing friendship opportunities, improving fitness and building confidence. The young people involved recognised that the 15 year cut off excluded people so they will be developing their coaching and support skills so that a new group for 8 to 13 year olds can be set up.
I Can
Redditch Youth and Community Enterprise
Redditch faces some of the most challenging social issues in Worcestershire so an initiative here is particularly important. This will offer young people opportunities to volunteer in a wide range of activities that suit their interests and skills. Examples range from IT mentoring for elderly people to leading activities in a junior youth club. This will introduce young people to the pleasure and benefit of working to improve their communities and maybe begin a lifelong habit of volunteering. / Youthreach
Pershore Riverside Centre CIC
Youth leaders have identified a range of issues affecting the culture of young people in. This initiative will offer 17 plus year olds an opportunity to become Young Volunteers. They will receive training and have supported opportunities to work, particularly with younger age groups, to involve them in activities and build their commitment to enhancing their local communities. This work will take place at the youth centre and other locations across the area.
Building Futures
Reach CIC
This is a very practical and tightly focussed initiative aimed at young people who are at serious risk of becoming disengaged from society. The programme is being developed by Reach CIC, specifically to work with children in school years 7 and 8 who are at risk of becoming NEET. The programme aims to help children achieve better outcomes before they reach the age of 16. / Atrix SAV
Bromsgrove Arts Centre Trust
This initiative willdevelop a volunteering and social action programme for a core group of young people, including NEETs (Not in Education, Employment or Training). It will support them to make progression into other development opportunities. Both in house work placements (a Café and technical opportunities) and external community outreach placements will be used as a catalyst for progression.

Volunteering to Change

Unlocking Potential Foundation CIC

This piece of work will offer young people who are at risk of offending the opportunity of training and placement as a means to divert them away from crime and anti socialbehaviour. Training will include activities such as Sport Activator and First Aid. The initiative will work with local police to identify young people who are most likely to benefit. This is a great example of where a big difference can be made by getting involved before real problems emerge helping young people to experience the fun and benefit of being an active member of society.
