This User’s Guide will help you get started using Mosby’s Nursing Skills so you can prepare for expert care.
Mosby's Nursing Skills Home Page
Mosby’s Nursing Skills home page offers access to all the communications, search tools, and user tools you need to master vital nursing skills.
Searching for Skills
There are four ways you can search for skills:
· By using the search box to type in a particular skill.
· Browsing using the alphabetical index.
· Searching for the skill within a specialty.
· Searching for the skill within a category.
Tools
My Skills in the Tools box on the left side of the screen makes it easier to find skills and manage tasks assigned to you.
Announcements
This section alerts you to important information about your institution or unit.
Tasks
This feature shows tasks assigned to your unit and helps you keep track of your own progress.
Skill Details
Once you click on the skill you’d like to learn or review you can access that skill’s step-by-step procedure, a printable checklist, a supplies list, a test, demonstrations, illustrations, and the full text of the skill. You’ll find everything you need to master the skill!
Quick Sheet
A printable Quick Sheet provides a summary of the step-by-step procedures for each skill. The Quick Sheet is printable.
Check List
You may be asked to print out the Check List for live competency testing to ensure you’re doing the skill correctly.
Supplies
The Supplies list includes all of the supplies you will need prior to performing the skill. The Supplies list is printable.
Test
A multiple-choice competency Test is included with each skill. It may be taken online and submitted.
Demonstrations
The Demonstrations offer narrated and annotated animations and videos of how to perform each skill. They are presented through an easy-to-use player that allows you to pause, replay a step, and skip to previous and next steps.
Illustrations
You’ll find relevant illustrations, images, and tables selected from the source book of each skill.
Extended Text
You also have access to a comprehensive version of the skill.
Also of Interest
This box on the right of your screen contains other helpful resources related to each specific skill.
· E-Library Files contain a printable PDF version of the skill exactly as it appears in the published book used as a source for this product.
· Related Skills provide links to other procedures that might also need to be performed on that patient.
· Patient Handouts offer links to the Patient Handouts that are specifically needed for that particular skill.
My Skills
My Skills in the box on the left side of the screen offers tools to make it easier to find skills and manage tasks assigned to you.
· Skills History shows the competency tests that you have taken and completed, as well as the grade you received.
· Tasks shows assignments and due dates as posted by your Administrator or Manager.
· Saved Skills offers quick access to the skills you frequently use.
· Recent Searches lets you save the most recent searches for quick access later.
