Create a New Customer Number

Overview

The purpose of these instructions is to introduce you to the SyteLine Customers screen and the steps needed to create a new customer record.

For 2010, the starting point for all new Customers is 24300. New Customers may only be added by Debbie McDaniel, Karen Gregg or Teri Dubinsky.

About the Customers screen

The Customers screen provides easy access to all customer-related data to support the Customer Service/Support role.

The Customers screen stores all the relevant information for storing basic customer data, tracking what customers buy and what customers owe. It also shows how much a customer has purchased from during the current year and during the previous year.

Navigation

  1. To access the Customers screen, in the Master Explorer, select Modules / Customer/General/Customers.

  1. Double-click on the Customers icon to display the Customers screen.

  1. Click the Filter button (Magnifying glass button) on the toolbar.
  2. Click the New button, or press CTRL + N.
  3. Enter the customer header information in the following fields:

Customer Number – enter next available customer number in the 24300 sequence listed in the Overview. Do not let the system default to the end (100xxx).

Name - enter customer name using new standards

Address - use new standards

City

State

Zip

County

Country (USA)

Language – no entry

Currency – no entry

Bank Code – enter B12

Industry Type – select appropriate Industry Type from the Master List. (If you’re not sure contact Deb McDaniel – DO NOT LEAVE BLANK!!)

  1. To save the record, click the Save button.SyteLine assigns the customer number.
  2. On the Credit Tab, no entry is required. Accounting will enter this information once the credit review is complete.
  3. Select the Contacts Tab.

  1. On the Contacts Tab, enter the following information:

Order Contact

Phone (using new standards)

Fax

Billing contact (if known)

Phone #

Email address

  1. To save the record, click the Save button.
