Security regulations Railway/Marine (for example Anhydrous Chlorine can not be shipped on the rails. Lee Hoffman mentioned pending legislation. Pete Catizone said this would be a topic of board interest because regulation involves company make or receive toxic substances. Steve Kmiotek mentioned that it is on radar starting to think about with some clients. Pete Catizone legislation came out March 1st. 90 ton to 140 ton rail car could become terrorist target. Trucks are more mobile and less scheduled. RMP has more regulations-on trucks. Chemical plant security regulations were less secure than the states were expecting. Bob Silvestri requirements are being looked at by his company. Senate bill was promulgated on March 1st. Notice from Homeland Security –Management of Chemicals. Dale Raczynski mentioned some potential speakers – Homeland Security, MEMA, and Peter Judge.
There are really two different topics. Railway is part of general security. Jay Scheffer to ask Peter Judge to on the transport usage of chemical. Steve Kmiotek is to follow-up.
Future EPA event – Roy Crystal sent email with regards to EPA Conservation Workshop in June 2007. Steve Kmiotek mentioned that it is a combustion cooling workshop. EPA is looking for AWMA to co-sponsor – which means to just send out to members.
ACTION 6: Jay Scheffer to ask Peter Judge to speak on transport usage of chemical. Steve Kmiotek is to follow-up on this.
ACTION 7: AWMA to co-sponsor EPA event and send out to members.
S&CC/HQ
National Conference is in Pittsburgh June 26-29, 2007.
Pete Catizone mentioned that he is going. Lee Hoffman is also going to the National Conference. Dale Raczynski is going. Judy Shuckerow Bourdon may be going. Who should go to meeting if possible? Pete Catizone said if he is there on the day of the meeting he will go.
No agenda set for S&CC meeting at the National Conference – it is usually Sunday or Monday. We will table discussion on this until next meeting.
No update on S&CC meeting held in Florida. Pete Catizone has not seen anything on the meeting.
ACTION 8: Discussion on National Conference and attendance at SCC Meeting.
NewsletterNewsletter sent out to the members. Next newsletter discussed. Judy Shuckerow Bourdon suggested September/ October timeframe for Fall newsletter.

Treasurer’s ReportSteve Kmiotek has followed up with Dan Moon on conference financial numbers. There was a net loss before sponsors and exhibitors. We did not make a whole lot of money on the conference this year. Steve Kmiotek will send out spreadsheet with final numbers.
Doug Murray sent a request from the CT Chapter for 4 awards for Science Fair $400 ($100 each to 4 projects).
CT Chapter Education Committee reviewing scholarship applications. CT Chapter requesting scholarship funds. $10 per CT Chapter member – Steve Kmiotek will base on current membership report as of 5/1/07. Steve Kmiotek will get membership number form Ruth. Dale Raczynski put forth motion for the funding and Bob Silvestri 2nd the motion. All in favor. (Update of 80 members as of April 2007).
ACTION 10: Steve Kmiotek to write-up policy on purchasing ads in the newsletter. Policy is to be posted on website.
ACTION 11: Steve Kmiotek to put together options for where AWMA-NES money should be held and send around to the Board.
ACTION 12: Steve Kmiotek to send out spreadsheet with final numbers for the conference.
ACTION 13: Steve Kmiotek to prepare check for CT Chapter Education Committee for funds based on membership (to be provided by Ruth Silman).

ACTION 14: None.
Website Andrea Fee-Blackberg is changing jobs as of June 1, 2007. She does not know the current computer status as of that date yet. Updates to the webpage have been going though Andrea. Andrea is working with her step-son (John) to update the website.
ACTION 15: Andrea Fee-Blackberg will work with her step-son on having the website updated over the next few months and will get lesson on how to update the website.
ACTION 16: Andrea Fee-Blackberg to update website to include additional clarification on how to view/obtain presentations from Fall Conference, she will add any missing meeting minutes, she will add new faces/names to update the board.
ACTION 17: Dammon Frecker to follow-up with Don Neal on the status of the secure section of the website.
EducationThis is from the previous month- Andrea Fee-Blackberg will continue to review contact information for the colleges and update.
ACTION 18: Andrea Fee-Blackberg will continue to update information on contacts.
Connecticut ChapterCT Chapter’s June speaker is still open.

2007 Annual Conference
Discussion held about scheduling next committee call----May 10, 2007 at 2 pm. Paul Murphy to send email out to Bob Silvestri, Andrea Fee-Blackberg, Dale Raczynski, Steve Kmiotek, Judy Shuckerow Bourdon, Dammon Frecker, Norm Beloin, Pete Catizone, and Mike Anderson. Andrea Fee-Blackberg will provide call in number. Dammon Frecker will circulate the March meeting minutes.
Bob Silvestri mentioned that CT finalized the Mercury bill.
Andrea Fee-Blackberg mentioned doing something on REACH (Global Harmonization). Global scale, National scale, Local scale are the different levels. Potential topics include state rules, RGGI, federal rules, global harmonization, and new ways of doing business. Dammon Frecker is on air permit streamlining committee (so we are tied into that). Issues on climate change front- MEPA to include greenhouse gases. MEPA came out with a policy similar to Boston Globe Article. Dale Raczynski is on committee along with a number of other folks. Andrea Fee-Blackberg will circulate news release from today.
Steve Kmiotek has contract with the venue. Site is confirmed on Steve Kmiotek’s credit card.
ACTION 20: Next Committee Conference call scheduled for May 10, 2007 at 2 pm.
ACTION 21: Steve Kmiotek to continue to work on venue/catering.
Future Meetings
June 5, 2007 - (Open? /CT?/Breakfast meeting?) Potential breakfast meeting topic related to MEMA- follow-up with Peter Judge. If in CT options include TRC and Lee Hoffman’s office.
July 3, 2007 -
ACTION 22: Follow-up to be conducted on potential breakfast meeting speaker. Information on next meeting will be forth coming.
