PLAY THERAPY PROFESSIONAL
EDUCATION & TRAINING AWARD
Purpose
The Association for Play Therapy (APT) acknowledges outstanding professional education and training that significantly develops, promotes, or advances the value of play, play therapy, and credentialed play therapists.
Criteria
The Professional Play Therapy Education & Training Award is presented to a nominee who:
1.Is an APT Professional member in good standing.
2.Is a university faculty member, an adjunct university instructor with an active Registered Play Therapist (RPT) or Supervisor (RPT-S) credential, or an active APT-approved continuing education provider.
3.Abided by the code of ethics, standards of practice, and all other legal standards or requirements promulgated by those authorities from which nominee has been granted a license or certification.
4.Provided, whether in an employed or consulting capacity, for graduate students or mental health professionals university play therapy education (transcript hours), APT-approved play therapy continuing education (certificate hours), and play therapy supervision, within the most recent 12-month January thru December period.
5.Is nominated by three (3) or more APT Professional members in good standing.
Although an annual award, it is presented to only one individual a year but is not presented if not merited.
Benefits
The award recipient is honored during the next APT Annual Conference.
Selection Process
- Nominator and at least two additional Endorsers, all of whom must be APT Professional members in good standing and have personal knowledge of the service of the Nominee, must post their own contact information, sign the Nomination Form, and be prepared to resolve any discrepancies. Self-nominations are strictly prohibited.
- Nominator must post all Nominee’s service for which points are requested in the Achievements column on the Evaluation Sheet. APT will assign points for Achievements in the Points column.
- Nominator must submit completed Nomination Form to APT by March 31.
- If Nominee is selected, Nominee and Nominator will be advised by April 20. If not selected, only Nominator will be advised.
