Book Group Final Project: Creative Presentation
Assignment Overview
Do a creative presentation on your book to convince others to read it.
Purpose
§ To convince your classmates to read the book (even if you didn’t personally like it, consider why someone might like it, what one can gain by reading it, etc.).
§ To teach the class about what happened in the story (an overview).
§ To demonstrate your understanding of the book
Format:
§ A creative, enlightening, and entertaining presentation
§ It must be something that can be presented in front of the class
§ It must be your own creative work (no playing or presenting something that already exists)
§ All group members must be actively involved in the presentation
§ Possible ideas:
o Sales pitch (as if you are the book agent selling it to a publisher, or a publisher selling it to readers)
o Commercial
o Skit
o Movie trailer
o Video
o Speech
o Author interview
o Music video
o Original soundtrack
Other requirements
§ Once you have decided what you want to do, write a detailed proposal outlining:
o What the finished product will be
o How it will fulfill the purpose of this assignment
o How it will involve all the members of your group
o What resources you will need and how you will get them
o How you will get it done on time (be specific!)
o Proposals due by Tuesday, May 11th (turn in earlier if possible)
o Include book title and group member names on the proposal
§ Presentations should be 10-15 minutes long
§ Presentations should be appropriate for a high school classroom
o These books deal with mature issues; you should demonstrate your maturity by dealing with them appropriately in your presentation.
o Handling content in an immature or inappropriate way will affect your score negatively.
