BWHS SKI CLUB RULES AND LIABILITY WAIVER

Rules:

These trips are planned for everyone’s enjoyment. STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO:

  1. Exhibit courteous/respectful behavior toward others at all times.
  2. Be on the bus at the scheduled time (2 p.m.) for departure to the ski resort and back on the bus by 10:20 p.m. for return home.
  3. Cooperate with their chaperones, bus driver, and area ski patrol.
  4. REMAIN SEATED WHILE THE BUS IS IN MOTION.
  5. Refrain from the use of profane language, tobacco products, alcohol, or other banned substances. This is STRICTLY enforced. Any inappropriate behavior in violation of district policies will not be tolerated.
  6. First time skiers/snowboarders are required to take a lesson on the first trip.
  7. A helmet is strongly recommended for all, regardless of level.
  8. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SKI ALONE; SOMEONE MUST BE WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES. Groups of two or more are required.
  9. There will be one REQUIRED check in at the ski lodge at 7 p.m. in order to take a break/eat. All attendants must stop at a chaperone, give their name and grade, and make sure their name is checked off on the attendance list before returning to the mountain.

*Any individual in violation of these rules will be subject to disciplinary action by Mr. Spangler (the advisor) and, depending on the severity of the violation, may be removed from the club and receive a formal discipline referral to the principal.

Ski Club Program Waiver:

I, the undersigned, am the parent or legal guardian of the minor child whose name appears below. I know that skiing/snowboarding is a potentially hazardous activity. I know that the minor child should not ski/snowboard unless medically able. I agree to abide by any decision of the program sponsor relative to the minor child’s ability to safely complete the risks associated with participating in this program including, but not limited to: falls, bodily injury, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including extreme cold and precipitation,and all such risks being known for the recreational sports of skiing and/or snowboarding. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts, on my behalf and the minor child’s behalf, waive and release the BWHS Ski Club or Loudoun County Public Schools, it’s employees, sponsors, their representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of the minor’s participation in this club even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the student named in this waiver. I further authorize and empower the program sponsor/monitor to consent to and authorize any medical care or treatment for the minor that may appear reasonably necessary as a result of emergency, accident or illness of the minor whether occurring before, during or after the event.
