Great Basin Engineering in Ogden, Utah is looking to add an EIT to our growing staff. Since it’s founding in 1959, Great Basin Engineering has evolved into a stable, well respected engineering and land surveying firm along the Wasatch Front and beyond. We work in the healthcare, industrial, education, municipal, residential, hospitality and government sectors to name a few.We are looking for an individual that is excited about learning the ropes in local land development and site related engineering and surveying. The ideal candidate would have a B.S. in Civil Engineering in the Spring of 2018 or 2019.The candidate must be a self-starter with an intense desire to learn and grow.Previous construction experience is a plus.Some of the duties, expectations, preferred experience and software knowledge are as follows:

  • Drafting
  • Learn and use GBE standard layers, line types, hatches, point groups etc. to createconstruction documents in Autocad Civil 3D.
  • Model 3D surfaces to calculate earthwork cut/fill and detention pond volumes.
  • Createand design Civil 3D pipe networks.
  • Create plan/profile sheets.
  • Create detail sheets for site and utility related details in conjunction with drafting staff.
  • Technical Studies
  • Prepare site-specific storm water studies that comply with various and varying City standards.
  • Prepare Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).
  • Prepare Storm Water Maintenance Plans (SWMP).
  • Understand current LEED and Low Impact Development (LID) designrequirements.
  • Review Geotechnical Reports and incorporate recommendations into Civil design plans.
  • Design
  • Help with the design of Demolition, Site, Grading and Drainage, and Utility plans.
  • Understand general site requirements.
  • Understand ADA requirements.
  • Understand detention/retention pond design.
  • Understand general utility requirements.
  • Other
  • Perform punch lists, site visits, site evaluations, etc.
  • Effectively communicate with architects and design team members of other professions.
  • Understand design timeline & process (SD, DD, CD, etc.) and contract administration.
  • Engage in approval process with municipalities
  • Prepare Fee Proposals
  • Attend project design team meetings
  • Prepare cost estimates
  • Prepare specifications
  • Respond to Addendums, ASIs, RFIs, etc.
  • Review submittals
