While entry to the course will be at the discretion of the Principal Teacher, students will normally be expected to have attained Standard Grade award grades 3 or 4 in French or German or equivalent qualification

Extended Reading/Viewing—in this unit students are required to study either a book or a film

Extended Reading and Viewing – In this unit students are required to study two (French or German) books. You may also have the opportunity to watch a video of the book, if one is available.
Advanced Higher Assessments
Internal
To complete the two units students are required to pass a series of internal assessments, five in the Language unit and two in the Extended Reading and Viewing unit.
External
A speaking exam worth 25% of the marks
A listening exam (15%)
A reading exam (25%)
A writing exam (20%)
A folio containing two pieces of writing, 1 essay in English or 1 research or report (15%)
