CTE/FEA QUARTERLY REPORT

Additional Information:
March 1-2, 2012 Grand Canyon University and the College of Education hosted over 600 students, advisors and guests for the 2012 FEA State Conference & Competitions. Some 500 students participated in 22 competitions that demonstrated their abilities and skills related to education and teaching preparation. Grand Canyon University awarded all Competition winners a $2500 scholarship renewable for (4) years, and all competition winners will be recognized at home plate before the Arizona Diamondback game on April 7th.
Over 30 Workshop sessions were provided for students and advisors included: University campus tours, Success Strategies for College, College Student Panels College Smorgasbord which provides students information from a variety college and university teacher preparation programs as well as perspectives from college students in those respective programs, as well as session topics for Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Special Education, Special Interests and much more.
Key Note Speakers include Superintendent of Public Instruction, John Huppenthal on March 1st and March 2nd featured the 2012 – 2013 :Teacher of the Year” Kristie Martorelli. A special invitation luncheon session was hosted in McKinley Hall on March 2nd at 11:00 for all district superintendent’s CTE Directors and Principals that focused on how they can implement an FEA program into their schools and see the tremendous advantage to training and preparing quality teachers for the future through the FEA experience.
We also have had meetings in March with Cave Creek Special Education District personnel and Deer Valley Special Education personnel to discuss how we can implement programs and connect FEA students with more special education classroom contact hours and involvement with special education students at the program level.
