Writing Reminders
●An essay needs a beginning, middle, and end.
●Introductory “hooks” can include an iconic quote, an iconic scene, vivid imagery, a startling fact, etc.
●Introductory paragraphs MUST state the thesis.
●A body paragraph should have a topic sentence, supporting details and a clincher sentence.
●Sentences must show a logical order and consistent theme.
●The clincher sentence should repeat or reflect 2-3 key words from the topic sentence.
●The concluding paragraph must revisit (but not merely repeat) the thesis.
