Partnership Agreements Elizabeth Kaiser
Elizabeth reminded the group that the coalition’s fiscal year begins October 1st, and members will need to sign their annual partnership agreement.
Rx Take Back volunteers Elizabeth Kaiser
Elizabeth asked for more volunteers to give information and work with police officials for the Take Back Initiative on September 26th.
Agency Highlight: Grant Haliburton Foundation Sierra Sanchez
Sierra shared the myriad of anti-suicide and bullying programs available. The foundation educates students, parents, and professionals and is available for your community. They host peer support groups for teens, mothers, and fathers. Their upcoming When Life Hands you Teenagers event is Sept. 25. More information can be found at their website, granthaliburton.org.
Work Group Breakouts
Epidemiology (Data) Karyn Kelbaugh
The annual Drug Impact Index is in press. Members suggested linking with coalitions in Ft. Worth, Denton, and Arlington to demonstrate comparisons with neighboring cities. Lauren suggested interested parties check out The Prevention Resource Center’s annual 19 county needs assessment, a prc3.org.
The group is also working on a qualitative supplement to demonstrate trends smaller than county level. The group is putting together a document for members to submit new coalition project ideas. They will meet again before October to discuss these new ideas.
Law Enforcement/ Environmental Strategies Lance Koppa
The park cities are ready for the National Take Back initiative on the 26th. The group has $4,000 of HIDTA funds left for permanent drop boxes, and will work with Irving and Plano to spend money by the end of the calendar year. Justin will work on map of proposed locations for boxes.
Prevention/Education Sierra Sanchez
The group is looking for a location for the next community forum and hopes to be able to plan in October for a November event date. Erin Clarke will work with Sierra on the location. The group wants a food giveaway and will work with NTX food bank on donations. Sierra asked for volunteers for the next Red Ribbon Rally, occurring on October 15th.
