•Textbook: Introduction to Theatre Arts
•Various movies for study, i.e. Harold Lloyd in Safety Last
•Poetry, Reader’s Theater Scripts, production script, camera/iMovie
Overview of Year
•Trimester 1: Introduction to Theatre Arts, history, terminology, group work/short pieces & movie studies
•Trimester 2: Complete short pieces & begin work for stage production
•Trimester 3: School Play, write, film & edit a movie
Assignments/Grading
•Most assignments will be completed in class
•Some memorization work and writing outside of class time
•Some set/rehearsal work for individual projects
•Some book assignments, writing assignments, and some activities will be graded.

Field Trip
We will be taking one field trip this year to see a professional production. I expect the ticket price to be somewhere in the range of $10-$15. Field trips are limited to students in the class only, not to siblings or other family members. The district will cover the cost of the bus transportation.
School Play
The school play is a major undertaking and all students are expected to participate – it is a graded assignment, and students may not miss it or the dress rehearsals the night before. This will be the only outside of school time activity: dress rehearsal will run until about 7:30 P.M. and the evening performance the following evening will be at 7 P.M. with students expected at school about 30 minutes prior to the performance and to remain after for about 30 minutes. Students are required to provide their own costume for this performance, but we may be able to supplement from the drama room. There is a costume rental business in Auburn that will rent costumes for about $20. I will provide contact information as we get closer to production.
