Effective July 1, 2017additional questions:
Court Ordered Community Service Policy
We are currently accepting Community Service applications for our construction sites. We do not offer office opportunities for Community Service hours. We look forward to working with you and believe you will find work here challenging and rewarding. In order to assure a positive experience as well as your safety, please read the following paperwork and guidelines. Your signature indicates acceptance of these terms. Your signed paperwork will be kept on file at York Habitat for Humanity’s office. Should you be unable to follow these guidelines, you will be asked to find an alternative location to complete your hours. As these rules and regulations are general guidelines, York Habitat for Humanity Staff reserve the right to remove any community service worker at any time for any reason.
To ensure a positive experience the following guidelines must be met:
Must be 16 years of age or older and present a valid government issued photo ID at first meeting.
- If you are under the age of 18, you must have a guardian read, fill out and sign both form and waiver.
Work a full shift (7:45am-2:30pm) on the construction site unless otherwise approved by YHFH Staff.
Wear appropriate work clothing as job assignments usually involve dirt, paint, etc.
- Wear work shoes, tennis shoes or boots. Open-toed shoes NOT permitted including sandals, flip flips, or crocs.
Sign in on the Volunteer Sheet on site and keep up with your hours. If you need a letter to prove completed hours, the Volunteer Services Manager must be made aware prior to you going out on the build site. Once your hours are completed, you must again request a letter documenting your service. Allow up to 5 business days for the letter to be prepared. PLAN AHEAD!
- If any information on the Volunteer Sheet is forged, you forfeit any earned hours prior to that date, as they are no longer verifiable. You may not return to YHFH to complete the remainder of your assigned community service hours.
IF YOU ARE LATE OR CANNOT MAKE AN ASSIGNMENT-you must call or email us to notify us that you need to reschedule. If you are late two (2) times or absent one time without calling in, you will be terminated.
IMPORTANT: You may not fulfill court ordered community service hours with YHFH if you were assigned hours for any offense related to burglary, aggression or violence, sex-related crimes, weapons charges, or crimes involving minors.
NOTE: York Habitat for Humanity reserves the right to terminate agreement for court ordered community service if the participant is in any way unproductive, disruptive, or in any way negatively impacts the accomplishment of YHFH’s daily goals.
