ORGANIZATION INFORMATION FORM
ARTICLE I: CLUB NAMEThe name of the club is “St. Katharine Drexel Prep Latin Club.”
ARTICLE II: GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Section 1: To expand one’s knowledge of Roman history and culture and Greek and Roman mythology by viewing videos and by playing table games and/or computer games.
Section 2: To expand one’s knowledge of the many Latin phrases used in everyday English, particularly in the fields of medicine and law by playing computer games.
Section 3: To expand one’s English vocabulary through an organized study of Latin prefixes and suffixes and basic roots.
Section 4: To prepare more intensely for the National Latin Exam that is given in mid-March.
ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP
Section 1: Members of this club must be St. Katharine Drexel Prep students who are enrolled
in a Latin I or Latin II class during the current school year.
Section 2: Types of Membership
a.) Active Members: Students who demonstrate interest in the goals of the club
and are willing to make positive contributions.
b.) Honorary Members: Teachers, parents or distinguished individuals chosen by
the members.
ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS
Section 1: The officers of the club are 1st Consul (president), 2nd Consul (vice-president), and
Censor (secretary).
Section 2: The duties of the officers are:
a.) 1st Consul: chairs all club meetings, has an agenda for each meeting and pro-
ceeds in a business-like manner, determines if there is a quorum
present, and calls the meeting to order.
b.) 2nd Consul: acts in place of the 1st Consul when it is necessary due to absence,
automatically becomes 1st Consul if the 1st Consul resigns.
c.) Censor: should post notices of all meetings and any messages concerning club
activities, keeps a neat and careful record of all business conducted
during the meetings, and maintains an accurate record of attendance at
all meetings.
Section 3: Election of Officers:
The officers are elected once a year, at the beginning of the school year during the

Section 1: The Latin Club will meet once a month, from September through April.
Section 2: The members and the teacher moderator will determine the dates, times, and places
of each meeting, and the secretary will remind the members of each meeting in
advance.
ARTICLE VI: DUES
Section 1: The annual membership dues for the club will be $5.00.
Section 2: Each member will receive a membership card, a Latin club pin that can be worn on
the uniform bolero or blazer, and a list of tentative topics for monthly meetings.
ARTICLE VII: CLUB COLORS
Section 1: The colors for the Latin Club are Roman purple and gold.
ARTICLE VIII: CLUB FLOWER
Section 1: The Latin Club flower is the laurel wreath.
ARTICLE IX: MOTTO
Section 1: The Latin Club motto is: “Labor omnia vincit.”
(“Hard work overcomes everything.”)
ARTICLE X: OFFICIAL CLUB SONG
Section 1: The official song of the Latin Club is: “Gaudeamus igitur.”
ARTICLE XI: AWARDS
Section 1: In order to be eligible for recognition at the Underclassmen Awards Assembly, the
member must attend at least seven of the eight monthly meetings and must partici-
pate in the respective activities or projects conducted during the meetings. Only
one excuse will be accepted.
