Application fees are payable on application and cover your first year with us.

Annual fees are based on your total organic certified sales each year, and are payable

on your annual renewal date.

Fees include your annual inspection and all core services throughout the year.

Abattoirs and butchers

To further support the Soil Association’s animal welfare programme we offer a reduced fee to abattoirs and butchers with certified organic sales of less than £233,000.

Fees for contracted storage or wholesale of pre-packaged organic food or drink products

If you store or wholesale certified organic products* that are fully packed and sealed, do not bear your company branding in any way, and are sourced from suppliers and sold to customers within the EU, the following fees will apply:

Brandholders

Criteria / Fee structure
Brandholders who source fully-packed and labelled products from EU-based non-SA certified suppliers, sell retail only, and do not carry out purchase of ingredients or manufacture / Please declare the purchase price paid to your supplier – fees will be based on our standard fee structure on page 1
Brandholders who source fully-packed and labelled products from EU-based suppliers, sell wholesale, and do not carry out purchase of ingredients or manufacture / Please declare the difference between your purchase and sales price – fees will be based on our standard fee structure on page 1
Brandholders who source fully-packed and labelled products from SA-certified suppliers, have the SA symbol applied to their products, sell retail-only, and do not carry out purchase of ingredients or manufacture / £165 plus VAT on application and annually

Catering Mark Supplier Scheme

The Catering Mark Supplier Scheme is for suppliers who can provide products which meet one or more of the Catering Mark Standards. Organic licensees are automatically eligible for this, and can join the scheme free of charge.

Additional inspection fees

If more than one day is required for annual inspection, or an additional inspection is required during the year, these are charged at £370 plus VAT per day.

Inspection cancellation fees

Our inspections are carefully planned, please note if they are cancelled with fifteen or less working days’ notice from the agreed date we will make an additional charge of £190 + VAT.

Paying by instalments

Fees can be paid in six monthly instalments by way of a credit agreement from Premium Credit. Please note this involves an additional charge of 3.5% of the total value of the invoice, and a credit check may be required.
