Job Description Form

1. Job Title: Spirits Ambassador (one year fixed term contract)

Location: Dillon Bass, Hawthorn Office Park, 41a Stockman’s Way, Belfast, BT9 &ET

2. Job Purpose:

The Spirits Ambassador will work across the Dillon Bass Spirit portfolio promoting the portfolio to trade customers, consumers & influencers. Field based, the role will involve conducting spirits training, tasting events, building relationships with key stakeholders, supporting implementation of promotional activity & events including Gin, Absolut & Hennessy Advocacy programmes.

3. Scope:

(a)Reporting to: Brand Manager, Dillon Bass

  • Dillon Bass Marketing team
  • Dillon Bass Sales team

  • Customers (on & off trade)
  • Media and Key Trade Influencers

4. Key Responsibilities:

Represent Dillon Bass Spirit brands (with primary focus on Absolut, Hennessy and the Gin portfolio of Beefeater, Beefeater 24, Plymouth Gin and Monkey 47) as brand ambassador and champion, support the marketing team in planning, testing, implementation, and evaluation of activities including:

Key Tasks: (including decision making authority as agreed with line manager)

  1. Brand education/mentoring

(i)Educate and mentor on brand specificities/characteristics & key differentiating qualities.

(ii)Build optimum share of mind for the brand amongst all DBL employees & key brand stakeholders.

  1. Brand development

(i)In cooperation with brand team and sales force, identify & target on trade accounts & retail accounts for brand activity.

(ii)Build relationships with each target outlet implementing consumer and trade promotions, bar staff education, brand visibility etc.

  1. Building Relationships with trade & consumers

(i)Build relationships & development plans for each target outlet.

(ii)Recruit & convert target consumers.

  1. PR support, in cooperation with PR Marketing/PR Dept

(i)Highlight & promote brand PR activity to relevant media/press contacts.

(ii)As Spirits Ambassador, act as the brand representative to press when/where opportunities arise.

(iii)Actively contribute to social media channels.

  1. Direct support to Brand Managers

(i)Support implementation, tracking and evaluation of planned promotional activity in the on/off trade.

(ii)Provision and presentation of best practice to assist in design and implementation of key on/off trade activities.

(iii)Provision of market intelligence, investigating, analyzing and reporting on key competitor activity and market dynamics to Marketing team

  1. Provide cocktail and Mixology training to On-trade Accounts

5. Key Deliverables:

Mentoring

  • Host mentoring sessions targeting consumers, trade customers & key influencers.
  • Motivate and develop the sales team’s product knowledge through mentoring and training sessions.
  • Identification of key accounts and development of relationships within these accounts.
  • Identification of key opportunities for DBL spirits brands through education and trial.

Share of Mind

  • Actively increase share of mind for Absolut, Hennessy & DBL gin brands within Dillon Bass.
  • Actively increase share of mind for Absolut, Hennessy & the DBL gin portfolio amongst key target on trade outlets & build up network of brand advocates amongst key influencers.
  • Submission of best practice and news stories to marketing team.

Monthly reporting

  • Complete monthly report on all activity for internal use.
  • Monitor KPIs on a monthly basis.
  • Provide photographs.
  • Working with brand manager, monitor sales performance of Absolut, Hennessy & gin brands.

Social Networking

  • Develop and manage Spirit Ambassador Twitter page.
  • Update with key events, activity & mentoring sessions and maintain and build relationships with key contacts.

Sales

  • Be able to take orders in accounts working closely with Business Development Managers.

Essential Criteria

Full driving licence

Demonstrable knowledge of wine & spirits – evidence of training courses, distillery visits, tastings

Demonstrable knowledge of cocktail making

2 years’ experience working in drinks industry in a consumer facing role – bar, retail environment

Proven track record of being extremely outgoing, sociable personality

Proven track record of being independent & able to work on own initiative

Proven track record of being positive with ‘can do’ attitude, flexible

Desirable:

WSET qualifications

Demonstrable experience of delivering training
