TODAY’S OBJECTIVES:

1.  Discover/review the essential elements of an argument.

AGENDA:

1.  Complete warmup #18: What are the essential elements of an argument? Is there a purpose to arguing? If so, what is it? What kind of techniques/methods do you use when you’re engaged in an argument (in other words, what do you say to get your point across)?

2.  Review basic elements of an argument (see outline) and then identify using the following visual text:

·  NIKE advertisements

·  Photographs

·  Painting

·  Video

What is the artist’s purpose when creating this image? What details do you notice that add to the effectiveness of the image?

3.  Using a dictionary and/or thesaurus, define the word, its synonyms and antonym, part(s) of speech, and use in sentence. Teach this word and its proper usage to rest of class.
