- Increase Microsoft Office 2010 or 2013 proficiency among the Pastoral Center administrative staff
- Increase productivity of administrative staff in Pastoral Center
- Increase knowledge and use of Microsoft Office 2010 or 2013software
- Increase personal job satisfaction
Goal
To encourage administrative staff in the pastoral center to increase their overall comprehension and expertise on specific Microsoft Office programsby becoming a MOS in one or more office applications.
To include specialist as a desired preferred minimum level of expertise required when posting or employing administrative staff.
There are three levels of achievement Specialist,Expert and Master.
Microsoft Office Specialist
A Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) is globally recognized for demonstrating advanced business skills in using Microsoft Office 2010, and Windows 7 or highly developed skills in using other Microsoft desktop software. A Microsoft specialist has demonstrated skills and passed a certification exam in one or more of the following office components:
- Word 2010 or 2013
- Excel 2010or 2013
- PowerPoint 2010or 2013
- Outlook 2010or 2013
- Access 2010or 2013
- OneNote 2010or 2013
- SharePoint 2010or 2013
Microsoft Office Specialist Expert
The Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Expert certification helps demonstrate an individual's overall comprehension and expertise on specific Microsoft Office programs. A Microsoft Office Specialist – Expert has demonstrated both core and advanced level skills in one or more of the following programs and passed the expert level certification exam.
- Expert Word 2010or 2013
- Expert Excel 2010or 2013
Microsoft Office Specialist Master
Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Masters have more than a working familiarity with Microsoft Office programs—they are technically skilled to take advantage of the breadth of features efficiently and effectively. A Master has passed expert level certification exams in both Word and Excel plus an additional two of the following core components of Office.
- PowerPoint 2010or 2013
- Outlook 2010or 2013
- Access 2010 or 2013
Time commitments
There are several options available
- Attend a Boot campteaching to the exam approximately4 hours a week over a 4-6 week period.
- Online self-paced study with optional subject help through training office.
- Online practice exams and training for certification 30-60 minutes per day for 2- 3 weeks prior to actual testing (depending on individual).
Who is the program geared to?
The program is targeted to the administrative staff and administrative assistants in the Pastoral center. While there are several positions that could benefit from achieving and maintaining current certifications, this is the group that would benefit most from this initiative and have the highest ROI to the diocese.
Candidates for this program would require approval from their department head.

Individual Cost
- Certification exam per module includes voucher, retake voucher and proctors fee $125.00
- Cost of exam reimbursed by training upon passing certification level.
