Information and eligibility
Aim: The aim of this organization is to stimulate interest in the study of Mathematics, to promote high standards of scholarship, to reward scholastic achievements, to create enthusiasm for an understanding of mathematics, to reward efforts toward math enrichment
Requirements for membership:
- Candidates must be in grade 11 or 12. Transfer students seeking eligibility must have completed at least one full semester at BVN.
- A student must have completed in Geometry and Algebra II, one of which must have been an honors class
- All candidates must have achieved an un-weighted 3.5 cumulative GPA in his or her math classes
- All candidates must have an un-weighted 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA in all other subjects for work awarded secondary credit.
- A student must be enrolled in math and maintain an un-weighted3.5 cumulative GPAin order to maintain membership.
- A student must be enrolled in a math class all four years.
- A student must have NO Blue Valley North Honor Code violations
- All candidates must submit a total of 3 recommendation forms, one from their current math teacher, one from a current core teacher and one from a former math teacher.
- Members must fulfill an 8 hour math volunteering expectation per semester during the school year (opportunities will be provided by the Math Honor Society)
- Requirements will be evaluated at the end of each year in order to maintain membership
Character:In order to be selected to the Math Honor Society, students must demonstrate integrity, honor, responsibility, citizenship, interest, and trust.
Events: The Math Honor Society will organize events to promote the interest and understanding of mathematics. These events may also include math competitions.
Acceptance: In order to be accepted and to obtain a certificate and/or senior honor cord, students must have a favorable application that was submitted on time and pay dues on time.

I am interested in becoming a member of the Blue Valley North Chapter of the Math Honor Society. I understand that I will be selected on the basis of scholarship and character. I realize that, if selected, I must maintain high standards in these areas and that if I do not, my membership will be terminated.
I understand that if my un-weighted cumulative grade point average in math drops below 3.5 or my overall GPA drops below 3.5, I will be placed on probation for one semester from the Math Honor Society and that if my GPA does not improve my membership will be terminated.Similarly, if I fail to complete my expected 8 hours of math volunteering service, I understand that my membership will be placed on probation.
