Team 365 – Carol Perrotto
From day one, the Miracle Workerz have been blessed with many outstanding mentors that have helped our team from its beginnings, through winning the Chairman’s Award, and into current history. However, what many people don’t often think about when they see a robotics team is its parents, volunteers and boosters. Every Booster on our team helps us in so many ways, but the real unsung hero of our team is Carol Perrotto.
Carol Perrotto has been a senior booster for the Miracle Workerz since 2002, and she has helped our team get where we are today. She has helped us set up a clockwork system that people can sometimestakes for granted.Through important tasks such as collecting paperwork, she does so much for our team without complaining with a smile the entire time. Carol Perrotto is an inspiration for many members of our team because she is such a hard worker that dedicates countless hours her free time to FIRST. She is an inspiration for those who strive to make a difference in the world, one step at a time.
Carolnot only works hard with no expectations of praise, but she also communicates within our team,to other mentors, parent, sponsors, as well as major corporations to help send the message of FIRST across the country. Carol is a board member of First State Robotics, a 501c3 non-profit organization, and she has been a member since its inception. She works with its insurance, and she continues to write grants to companies to help the Miracle Workerz. She communicates with students at meetings to make sure we do everything we’re supposed to do, even if it means taking up all of her free time. Carol gives presentations to parents and mentors alike about financial information, and she can answer a wide-variety of questions about some of the most obscure questions about FIRST. If people had any confusion about something within the team or FIRST and asked Carol Perrotto, she would give them a precise answer with a smile on her face.
On top of being an inspiration for our team, Carol is a prime example of a role model for all students within FIRST. She has volunteered countless hours in the sake of FIRST, and she loves being a part of it. Carol has volunteered for the Duel on the Delaware for 10 years and the First State FLL/FTC Championship practically since its start. She has been one of few women to become a head referee within FIRST. Last year, she was honored with the opportunity to be a referee on the Einstein Field in St. Louis, MI for Championships. She has served as head referee on many levels, including both offseason and official FIRST events, as well as refereeing on District, Regional, and Championship levels. Not only does she volunteer during competitions, she is in the core team for the board of directors in the Mid-Atlantic Region. If you were to ask her why she dedicates herself so much, she would say “"The best part of FIRST is the people, the students, the mentors and the FIRST staff, all the way up to Dean himself!"
On every team, there are unsung heroes, thosewho pull the string on the marionette and never ask for credit or recognition in return. These people not only make our FIRST community better, they make the world a better place. In many aspects of team life, Carol Perrotto serves as an unsung hero to the Miracle Workers, MOE 365, who deserves to recognition for her hard work.
