Explain how to hang and focus an ERS on the catwalk. (11 pts.)

1.  Place instrument C-Clamp on pipe

2.  Hand tighten bolt on to the pipe

3.  Lock safety cable to the pipe

4.  Use adjustable wrench (Crescent Wrench) to tighten bolt

1 to ½ turns to tighten (prevents a bent bolt)

5.  Plug in instrument to available circuit

6.  Bring up channel circuit

7.  Open up shutters

8.  Loosen lockdog (side of instrument) and adjustment nut (F-nut) on the C-Clamp

9.  Focus hotspot on the Area

10.  Lock all nuts

11.  Use shutters to shutter in the area desired

Explain how to hang and relamp a Fresnel on the 3rd Electric. (12 pts.)

1.  Raise A-Frame ladder or lower electric batten to required level

2.  Place instrument C-Clamp on pipe and hand tighten the bolt

3.  Lock safety cable to the pipe

4.  Use Adjustable Wrench (Crescent Wrench) to Tighten Bolt

1 to 1½ turns to tighten (prevents a bent bolt)

5.  Plug in Instrument to Circuit

Relamp

1.  Obtain keys to light and sound storage

2.  (Provided BTN lamps are in stock in the file cabinet)

3.  Bring lamps to your work area (where you are replacing the lamp)

4.  Release door latch on lens assembly and open carefully

5.  Push down on lamp and turn counter clockwise (1/4 to ½ turn) until lamp is free

6.  Reverse step 5 (watch for the orientation of the lamp wings or lamp will not fit)

7.  Close the door on the lens assembly (see step 4)

How many lights and in what positions does it take to fully illuminate an actor. In what positions should these lights be hung, and at what angles? (5 pts.)

How to bring up channels

1.  Begin typing desired channel numbers

2.  Continue with [At] [Full] to bring lights to 100% intensity

-otherwise press [At] then type in a numerical value to specify intensity

3. Press [Enter] once previous command in step 2 is completed

4. To release the lights, press [Sneak] à [Enter}

How to record a cue

1.  Bring up your “look” (using Submasters or Channels)

2.  Press Record

3.  Press Cue

4.  Enter your cue number

5.  Press Enter

6.  Press Release or Bring down your Submaster faders

How to run a cue

1. Press Cue

2. Enter your cue number

3. Press GO

Explain all steps necessary to set up and turn on a microphone what is patched in through the main for a podium in the pit. Be careful to remember all the buttons on the board. ( 5 pts.)

How to Setup a Microphone

1.  Get Microphone, XLR cable, Mic Stand or Podium(Dimmer Room) from Light/Sound Storage

2.  Place Microphone in holder; plug in the female end of XLR to the microphone and run the cable to the numbered wall jack behind the stage wall or stage floor pocket (if available).

3.  Press the “ON” button, located at the stage manager’s console (down stage left wing) to turn on the sound system.

4.  On the Control booth at Mixer console, Bring up the corresponding channel number and assign it to LR.

5.  Un-mute it; Bring up the Slider up and adjust the gain if necessary.
