OCFI HOUSE FELLOWSHIP GROUP BIBLE OUTLINES.

SEPTEMBER 2016.

TOPIC: DIVINE APPOINTMENTS.

Memory Verse: Psalms 37:23

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and He delighteth in his way”.

Text: John 4:1-7; 39-43.

(A)INTRODUCTION:
God works through our lives by divine appointments. Much of the time as we live our lives we’re unconscious of God at work, moving and intervening. It is quite possible that God sends us divine appointments every day and we miss them because we aren’t looking for them! Far too often what is really God moving and intervening in the midst of life is written off as coincidence.

A divine appointment is ‘a meeting’ which was arranged, inspired and executed by God. God is sovereign; He is all knowing and all-powerful.
Scripture is filled with the notion of God working through appointed times & in appointed places with His people. This concept is thoroughly woven throughout the fabric of God’s Word; such as “in that day ....” “at that time .....” “it came to pass ....” ‘appointed time’ in the Bible. All of these thoughts convey the idea that God makes & keeps appointments with His people. Time after time God leads the faithful to cross another person’s path and great things happen!
Have you ever had that inner compulsion that you needed to do something or go somewhere and you didn't know why until later?. You later looked at your experience and realized that it was a divine appointment.

(B) WOMAN OF SAMARIA---- JOHN 4: 1-7.

When Jesus enemies wanted to call Him an insulting name, they called Him a Samaritan (John 8:48)----Why?.
Why was it necessary for Jesus to go through Samaria (John 4:4).?

(C) MANIFESTATIONS OF DIVINE APPOINTMENTS:

(i)EXTRAORDINARY CRISIS: 1 Sam.30:15 – DAVID / AMALEKITES & AN EGYPTIAN. Why meeting the Egyptian man a divine appointment? “We should neither do an injury nor deny a kindness to any man; sometime or other it may be in the power of the lowest to return a kindness or an injury”. Discuss this statement in line with the encounter in this passage?

(ii)UNCOMMON DELAY: ESTHER 2:21-23 & 6:1-3 – MORDECAI / KING AHASUERUS’ ASSASINATORS/ NO IMMEDIATE REWARDS. Habakkuk 2:3 – Explain this scenario in line with this Bible reference.

(iii) UNUSUAL MEETING: 2 KINGS 8:1-6.THE SHUNAMMITE WOMAN VS. GEHAZI / KING (V.5). Why is this a divine appointment?

(iv) UNANTICIPATED CHANGE OF PLAN: ACTS 8:26-40—PHILIP VS. ETHIOPIAN EUNUCH.

God told Philip to leave a great harvest and go to a desert place. WHY?

(D)CONCLUSION:

There are Divine appointments God has set for each of our lives. Sometimes God wants to bless us and other people, or He could try and help us get a good deal, etc. The possibilities of divine appointments are endless! If we are willing to be led by the Holy Spirit, great things are possible.

You need to get up every morning saying, I am looking for my Divine Appointments. If you will start looking for them, you will begin to see them more and more, in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINTS:

(1)  Every of my step in this month and beyond shall results into my divine appointment, in Jesus name.

(2)  My feet will carry me to the right place, at the right time, to the right people, in Jesus name.

(3)  I will locate my divine helpers and my divine helpers will locate me this month and beyond, in Jesus name.
