Summary
Maintenance and repair of telephone equipment, installing, replacing, repairing and adjusting equipment, and analyzing defects, tests, repairs and maintaining telephone switching circuits. Communicates with customer in regards to service orders and trouble reports. Required to keep detailed records, works with circuit diagrams, and must be able to move materials not in excess of 100 lbs.
General Duties
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
A. Operating personal computer to receive and completing work instructions from supervisor or other designated employees in connection with the provisioning and maintenance of service, and modifying and analyzing some software programs, as required.
B. Keeping detailed records and maintenance logs of work activities and item of equipment involved.
C. Responsible for maintaining housekeeping standards.
D. Operate various communications software programs for network device / configuration, control, and debug functions.
E. Ability to manage, monitor and troubleshoot OSI Model Layer 1 through Layer 3 network devices and facility transport platforms.
F. Actively participates in deployment and general maintenance of inventory systems and associated equipment.
G. Repairing and/or maintaining router, CSU/DSU and Ethernet switching equipment.
H. Interpreting service orders, work authorization records, documents all central office drawings including schematics, wiring lists, wiring diagrams and equipment drawings.
I. Driving to various work locations may be required.
J. Testing and analyzing customer service orders and trouble reports. May interface with customers.
K. May work in an office environment while sitting for extended periods of time.
L. May be required to perform TCP/IP trouble shooting.
M. May be required to perform LAN/Wan administration.
N. May be required to run cables for coax, IO Ports on systems and perform power cabling.
O. Analyze and investigate switch usage errors. Document trouble ticket and refer to correct organization for resolution.
P. May be required to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.
Basic Qualifications
A. Tests Results obtained in standard tests for this position must meet minimum requirements established by the Company, in accordance with Company policy.
B. Must meet safety-related requirements including but not limited to those standards of safety imposed by OSHA, state agencies, manufacturers and/or the company.
C. Must be able to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation, including, but not limited to, perceiving differences in wire and cable colors, moving and/or lifting materials generally not exceeding 100 lbs, working aloft or in close quarters.
D. May require driving -- Must have a valid driver's license.
E. Must be available to work scheduled tours designated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement and/or the needs of the business. Associates may be required to work evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as the needs of the business necessitate. Non-scheduled days will be required as needs of the business necessitate.
F. Required to wear appropriate safety attire.
Training
Training generally includes extended classroom and on-the-job training. Must be willing to attend training in/out of state locations as required.
