About the Placement Organisation
Voluntary Action Leeds (VAL) is a charity that supports communities by helping people and organisations that do good in Leeds. Doing Good Leeds is the website for the Third Sector in Leeds. The website makes information and advice easier to access and there are plenty of opportunities for your organisation to contribute and be a part of the website too.Purpose of the Placement
This paid placement is funded through the STEPS programme and aims to support Leeds residents who are over 25 years old and long term unemployed (unemployed over 12 months and over) develop their confidence and work skills within diverse sectors with supportive employers within a 6 month fixed term period.Participants will be working for 25 hours in a paid role. In addition they will be required to undertake 5 hours of personal development training which will include either volunteering within your paid placement or with another organisation or undertaking some training or courses.
Work Skills Development Opportunity
The main focus of this role will be to support the Supporting Organisations Manager in developing and supporting the Leeds Volunteer Managers Network. This will include providing admin support, the development of a network newsletter, dealing with membership queries, preparing for training, undertaking research and the development of the Volunteer Managers on-line Portal and Social Media pages.This post holder will also get opportunities to provide support to other volunteering projects at VAL, including the Volunteer Centre, Giving Time, Leeds City Ambassadors, Micro-Volunteering & Digital Badges & ESV.
1. To support and develop the Leeds Volunteer Managers Network.
2. To work with the Network and other key stakeholders in identifying and responding to the support needs of network members.
3. To develop and update the Leeds Volunteer Managers Network Portal.
4. To ensure that up to date information around Volunteering is available through the portal and through doinggoodleeds.
5. To work with the Supporting Organisations Manager to identify the training and development needs of the network.
6. To provide support to other volunteering projects at VAL including: Leeds Volunteer Centre, Giving Time, Micro-Volunteering, ESV & Leeds City Ambassadors Programme.
7. To carry out risk assessments and follow safety procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff, volunteers, service users and organisations.
8. To ensure that all monitoring and evaluation of the project is produced on time and in line with requests from Line Manager.
9. To work with VAL’s communication team in developing and promoting examples of best practice from the pilot.
10. To actively promote equality and diversity whilst challenging discrimination in all areas of the work, adhering at all times to Voluntary Action Leeds’ Equality and Diversity Policy.
11. To actively and positively promote the different volunteering projects at Voluntary Action Leeds.
12. To undertake any further tasks as requested by VAL’s Supporting Organisations Manager to further the aims and objectives the network and VAL.
