MENGEL’S ‘MINDERS: FINAL EDITION

Thanks to everyone for a great year!

  1. GREAT SPRING CONCERT!: I think last week’s spring band concert was one of our best in years! Congrats to all of you for a job super-well done. If you did not get a chance to order a CD recording of the concert you can still request a copy by emailing Mr. Rick Taylor at:
  1. GRADUATION: Graduation is Friday, June 8th. All concert band members along with 8th grade incoming members should report no later than 5:30pm. The dress that night is the same as for the spring concert. In the event of rain, and if graduation is moved inside the auditorium, then only first chair players should report that night. If you are uncertain at all of what to do, please call my office number to hear a recording of instructions. 610-469-5349
  1. SENIORS: Thank you for your hard work and dedication over the past four years. We will all miss you very much. Please don’t forget to turn in anything you may have: uniforms, music, instruments, mouthpieces, flip folders, etc……
  1. SUMMER PRACTICES: All of you were given the band summer practice schedule back in February, but I’ve attached another copy here in case you need one. You can also check the band website for updates on practice schedules (
  1. FALL PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE: A preliminary fall performance schedule is attached here for your planning purposes. All dates, times, and events are still tentative at this point and some things may still be added or deleted.
  1. INDOOR GUARD / PERCUSSION: Congratulations to our Indoor Percussion and Colorguard Ensembles for their successful seasons and performances at championships this year. Both shows were amazing and demonstrated a lot of very hard work by our guard & percussion members and their instructors.
  1. PRIVATE INSTRUMENT LESSONS: Summer is a great time to start taking private lessons on your instrument! Private lessons absolutely make the difference in terms of playing ability, solo opportunities, and music festival experiences like district band, etc. Everyone should consider taking private lessons at some point! If you are interested in finding a teacher, I will attach a current list of area private lesson teachers here. If you need any help finding someone just let me know.
